ah ha and this debate is still happening - TC vs M8 and yes every M8 owner will say that the M8 mill is the greatest Harley engine ever made with so much more power..............! Not so true, yes stock for stock it will win in a race down the road but its not gonna leave a TC 4 bike lengths behind and do it like nothing.

I ride with M8 owners & its a step forward in cubic inches but comes with a few curses as well, if you stay stock i think you`ll be fine - you go and start modifying that mill & you run into problems, I think the TC`s are a more solid, reliable engine to build - Most complained about the early TC`s and the cam shoe tensioner issues but this mills issues are somehow ok?????? I mean it has to be one of the most problematic platforms, well.....ever! - from sumping to transfer, hydraulic clutch issues, lifters (always an issue but worse now it seems) rocker pillars cracking and a few compensator issues & this is just the drive train basically -(sure I missed a thing or two)

Any way - its the direction the Moco has gone & it will improve - Ive been looking at the new bikes but just cant justify spending the money they are asking, Ive got a nice Heritage which checks all the boxes just fine, who knows maybe one day but I dont think Ill give it all the accolades as some have - Ive ridden the 107 & 114 and while there nice they are not that much better than a 103 / 110. honestly the best bang for the buck is the Heritage with the 114 IMO, you get the mono shock & bigger engine The touring line up is due for a suspension update..........Maybe then Ill make the jump????

[QUOTE=Rounders;20917600
As far as the counter balancers being metric, are they not the same as softails?[/QUOTE]

there were alot of "buzziness" complaints about the twin cam b motors.

I had an '89 EVO Heritage with the hard mounted, non-balanced engine.. That definitely had a buzz in the handgrips and footboards. IIRC it was at its worst about 72-75mph...

I have both an '01 and '03 bike with a Twin Cam "B" engine... If there is a buzz to those two bikes, I don't notice it... However the buzz with the EVO was very obvious..

ive personally never been on one, i just know what ive read here and heard from others. ive been on the m8, didnt have an issue with it, i just know its more of a slight evolution, not a night and day difference. is it better? yes. alot better? no.

I just traded my 13 breakout with a 103 stg 1 last week for a street glide 117. The 103 had the B motor which idles smooth but vibrates alot more as the rpms rise. My new bike has the thumping vib at idle and smooth as can be when cruising. 103 sounded better but just put pipes on 117 and yet to get it out for a ride. Power seems to be better on 117 and feel the longer rides will be better on the hands and stuff with alot less vibration.
