It's been on the big twins since '07 I believe? The first time the 110 in my FXDLS dropped a cylinder at idle, I thought I had lost a piston. I had no idea the bike even had the feature LOL.
I turned it on one time on my cammed 128 in the SG, and man it is rough! My engine lopes so hard at an idle as it is.
I have always just left it off, not interested in whatever feature they claim it has, the harsh idle bugs me more.
I wondered why the throttle could twist to the negative, now I know. I knew that the bike had the EITMS feature but did not know it could be turned on and off. Thanks to those that have taught me.
Comfortable .. Im from an era when men were men and mothers were tougher.
Common sense how can it be good to have an un-equal intentional load difference on the crank? Now one cylinder (wrist pin, barring s, crank, heck even piston skirt and rings) has twice the centrifugal weight to carry when running alone. Why dont we start installing wind sails while were at it. Maybe a toilet seat for the passenger.. They are motorcycles. Leave them manly and raw.
HD V twins use a common crankpin for both cyld's so the load issue isnt really an issue. Shutting down the rear cyl ( which is what we're talking about) is to control temp.
I give them credit for maintaining the air cooled V twin architecture for as long as they have.

twisting the throttle forward is also one way to disengage your cruise control.
He never mentioned EITMS, hes talking about variable displacement which if HD had, one cylinder would not fire while rolling down the highway. Amazing how easy information is to find these days and folks are still confused.
As an example of variable displacement, my V-8 becomes a V-4 at highway speeds.
EITMS shuts down one of the two cylinders while idling for air cooled V-twin. Both cylinders fire while rolling down the highway.
