Wasn't aware they provided the base plates for the chopped TP. A buddy bought one about 3 years ago and did not come with one. He replaced all of the latch and hinges to the H-D as well as the gasket. It's been mentioned, it's hit-n-miss with AB stuff.
I was intrigued by the Amazon tour paks I saw but I read some negative reviews. My main concern was having a passenger lean on it for hours at a time. I was afraid that the thinner plastic would break easier, causing my passenger to potentially fall off. I've always read that HDs tour paks were awesome and sturdy, although pricey. I decided on a happy medium, with the Advanblack. Although, I was sold on the HogWorkz initially. I just happen to have a buddy who bought the Advanblack and I was able to see it in person, so that's what I went with.
It was advertised to come with the interior plate to add rigidity and durability, as well as a tether to keep the lid from opening too far.
With the 2022 Apex color scheme on my Road King Special, I was very concerned about optimum color matching with any of the non-OEM choices. So, I spent the couple thousand $$ with H-D and got what I believe looks perfect Very happy with it and its only money, right?
.
The color matching is done "by the numbers"
think about it
do you think a body shop working on your car LOOKS at the color and "Try's" to get close enough by mixing up a batch of paint?
or maybe they send off to the mfg for a can of the paint?
Nope!, it all done by numbers and that gives you and exact formula for that color, Bikes and HARLEY is no different!
Nice TP Colorado. I'm pretty sure the 3rd party folks won't be able to do that Apex color, as it has some Bar & Shield stuff that fades in and out.
Yes, your most likely correct. After all He paid extra for Harley to put their logo all over the paint job so, yep they got him by the ... Opps, sorry! that's just my opinion of Harley slipping out again!.

The "S" designated (from post #163) was from the company HR3 so they get the pin stripe on the TPack for the Special of that color.
Nothing to do with the local paint shop of which YES, you need the color code of which most of us know including me.

Received my Advanblack Chopped Tour-Pak today. Vivid black matches perfect, very quality paint job. The black hardware is nice and glossy and matches the saddle bag latches. Overall it seems like really good quality, and pretty easy to put on the mount and install. The back rest pad also seems decent and adequate.
I ordered the Saddlemen LS tour-pak back rest seat cover to go with it, in hopes of matching my Saddlemen seat. It looks like the Saddlemen cover is meant to fit the Harley tour-paks. Its dimensions are just a little off from Advanblack's. Unfortunately, I'll have to rock the unmatching Advanblack back rest pad and cover.

Thanks for the update. I too thought about matching backrest for my Saddleman. Now I will just live with the Advanblack rest.

I emailed Saddlemen. I know they make seats and covers for everything. I'm hoping I'm not the first person to want this. Maybe they already have the dimensions and are able to make the cover. I also asked if they made a complete back rest that would fit in the Advanblack pre-drilled holes. I'll let you know what they say.
