Progressive Front 1” Lowered Fork Cartridge Question
2014 Street Glide
Last week installed the Progressive 1”’lowered cartridge kit (kit - cartridge in right, spring in left). All went fine. Cut the spacer down to 1” as directed with the 2 preload springs in each. Washers/ spacers in the right and proper OEM parts excluded.
I haven’t ridden with the bike down for additional work.
Are they supposed to be really stiff? They compress about an inch and a half when lowing off jack to load on the ground. However, if I sit on the bike or stand and press down on the bars there is little to no observable movement up or down.
I went back the through the instructions several times and I am certain I assembled the parts properly. The only variable I can think on is the fluid level with trying to adjust for spillage when pouring.
I’d appreciate hearing from folks with this same set up.
Thanks!

I replaced my front forks with the Progessive cartridges. It did reduce the nose dive but rode so dam hard I took them out and sold them. I replaced with the regular progessive springs and 1" shorter than stock and was happy with them. You are fighting 2 things that will make it ride hard. The reduced travel and to cut down on the compression when you brake... the stiffer setup. BTW the fluid is just for lubrication of the struts and have nothing to do with ride quality.

I have the Progressive front cartridges and I only know what the stock was like.
At some point I'm gonna try something else up front but not knowing if $1000+ would make the front any better is stopping me.
I don't know what I dont know.........
my concern was the inability to compress the front forks even a tiny bit after installing the progressive 1” lower single monotube kit.
I went mentally went back through the instructions and install. 99% certain everything was done correctly.
just to be safe I called Progressive. They confirmed the spring is far too stiff to be able to compress the forks with body weight pushing on the bars. They said if it compresses when lowing from the jack to the ground (which it does) everything sounds right.
For those of you who responded, thank you.
Take care.
