1997 road king 95k miles
They just added this to the dealer site. I like all the upgrades, they are asking about 10g. I do have the sportster to trade and I think I could talk them down a few grand. Newer with high miles is better than older with high miles right? The road king really only caught my eye because of the super e carb and evos reputation. Dealer also has alot of records from the past owner ( so they say) which to me is a bonus.

There is also a private seller near me with the same year and color for 11,500 with 17,000 miles.

Is 30k miles really worth that much more money? The 50k mile one also has alot of nice extras for less than 8,000 so does that factor at this mileage?
Gotta say I think this is the prettiest paint Ive ever seen. Ive seen it in person before. Except maybe the 2022 snake venom.

The private seller more than likely has put negotiation room in his price. Go meet him and look at the bike. He might want out of his garage right now as he has another item in mind or the Mrs wants new carpets and kitchen; the rarely ridden bike is in her sights as the funding source. Be prepared to offer a "cash now" deal.
Extras are nice, but don't always drive the prive up.
It would help if we knew your price range.
$8k for 2012 FLHTK with 52k probably isn't bad. Nice loaded bike.I got a bikes with 70 and 90. You will probably run into stuff here or there, and it is 11 year old bike. But I don't think bad, and lower price.
I think the best thing to do is search around, you will see what you get for the money. Do a broad search many states. Maybe narrow down to WI, which would be an easy drive.
When looking this summer I used harley market place and facebook market place. Harley one is a nice search engine. They were a little more money, and some dealers are higher than others, I ended up going with private sale. In the fall their was lots of bikes, so I could get a comarable.
But again, it comes down to what is your limit. I spent $16k got FLHTK 2016 with 15k miles. It was a big step up from my 2007. 2014 had some nice changes But I knew what I wanted, it is my third touring bike.
99-2006 5 gallon tank, 5 speed, 88" I don't mind the 5 speed. Bored out to 95, is a really nice motor, and not hard to do.
Do not get Marenett Menalli fuel injection, it is limited support due to age.
2002 first year delphi fuel injection, 2006 last year carb
2007 96" and 6 speed
2008 6 gallon tank. One off year, may have less seats available. Not sure
2009 new frame. I got two old frames, 5 gallon tanks that I like too.
103" came out???
2014 new saddle bag designs, which sounds funny are a big deal.
Some where in there the stereos got upgrade. My 2007 has upgrade speakers, but I should have done an amp years ago. Would be ok in UP on highways at 60 mph.
I am not a fan of Harley touring seats, I like firmer touring seat. I think they are soft and feel great in the show room, but you sink in to much when you ride it,
From Marquette in 5 hours you can be in southern WI. That gives you a broad range to look at.

IMHO.... between two bikes of the same year, with a 30k mile difference, condition and maintenance are more important than the miles... I would also consider maintenance records and some accessories you may like as a plus. They are pretty similar in my mind based on mileage alone... and should be priced fairly close... maybe within 10% - 15% of each other..
If both bikes are very close in condition, maintenance, and accessories... I would also give a premium to the lower mileage bike, if my planned use was to tour and rack up a lot of miles...
Good luck with your search....
