Morning-
I've been browsing the forums looking for opinions. I upgraded my 2013 Electra Glide last night to a 2021 FLHTK Limited.
Bought it strictly because it was the deal of the century. Rode it home, and I feel like I'm riding on a toy bicycle!!
I'm 6'4", and about 230. (So, tall and fit) This thing feels more cramped than my old race bikes (2009 GSXR 1K). On my 13, I feel like I'm relaxed, and stretched out enough to be comfortable.
The new one feels like my hands are below my knees, and my knees are in my chin.
Before I go spending the rest of my savings on parts that don't/won't matter, anybody have some suggestions to stretch out what I have?
Apes are gonna come soon, but what about stretched/lowered boards? Maybe a lower cut seat? After 2 spinal fusions, I realized I'll need the lumbar support, so bars and a seat are mandatory.
Just looking for suggestions from the taller guys.
Have a fantastic weekend!
DK customs footboard spacers, HD or similar 360 degrees highway peg mounts, Tallboy seat, I have a Mustang Super tour on my 07 flhtc and a Ultimate Tallboy seat with backrest on my 14 Trike. Bars of course as you mentioned, proper sized windshield, check out Long ride shields, they’re having a great sale right now on blemish shields that I never was able to find blemishes on mine.
what did you have done with the 13? its pretty much the same stuff. pretty much everything on those 2 bikes is interchangeable as far as what will get you into a riding position, and alot of other stuff is the same. if you liked the 13 you know your formula for comfort already.
Not quite as tall as you, but here's what made me much more comfortable on my Street Glide:
- LePera "Daddy Longlegs" seat. Moves you back about 2 inches, available in a number of solo and 2-up styles
- Extended rear brake lever from Softbrake. Mine is 1 inch longer than standard and sits lower to the floorboard, much more comfortable to operate. You could probably go 2 inches longer if it would work with the lowers on your Limited.
- Extended shift levers. Both are 1 inch longer than standard, giving you more room on the footboard.
- Highway pegs, allowing you to stretch your legs when you need to.
I put an Ultimate Tallboy on my '16 Ultra Classic and I love it. It's uber comfortable, allows me to stretch out my legs and no pain in the *** after 1.5 hours like the stock seat.
I'm 6' tall with a 34" inseam.
Might I suggest, if you do floorboard spacers, go for the ones that move just the floorboards up and out. The spacers that move the floorboard mounts will reduce your lean angle a slight bit. I know this from a lot of scrubbing on corners on a road glide that the previous owner had put the floorboard spacers that move mount and all out.
