Finally found a bike near me that I was semi interested in. Its a new 2022 BASE model roadglide, black and for some reason a solo seat. Called the dealer up and after talking to 4 different people got a quote of $29,000 OTD! Didnt even bother haggling with the guy. Wouldnt a holdover model be going for much less that? I thought people on facebook marketplace were the only ones smoking crack. Guess I was wrong.
th
web sites show $22,240 base and a special $27,350 plus tax and what ever else bs they add.Keep looking find someone that has one under 1000 miles and added all the goodies and sells it for 10 cents on the dollar for the goodies
Once upon a time many years ago, A Road King and a Miata met in a smokey room that smelled of wine and cheap perfume. With a smile they shared the night. It goes on and on and on and on.
My Road Glide brethren might want an ounce of flesh from me; but I think both fairing types have something good to offer. I like the look of each. I've owned both in full-on touring platforms (Limiteds) and both did just fine. I honestly cannot argue one is better than other for the majority of riders. I do like that a majority will buy the bat wing bike, which makes the Road Glide a bit less common. Anyway, it's an endless back-and-forth thing when RG or SG debates start. I think the only real way for anyone to understand a Road Glide is to ride one enough miles in enough places to experience it for many hours.
Having owned both and walked the walk, my 'best bike of my life' is the Road Glide. It simply does things better for me than my UL did. It looks better to me than my UL did. I enjoy riding it more than I have any previous bike. I bought it based on my own evaluation of it. Nobody to impress except my wife and I, as we don't ride in parades, poker runs or with groups. And for the record, I've never told anyone they should own a Road Glide. I'll let them discover that (or not) in their own way.
It's interesting to hear the experiences of those who have rode RGs & BatWings extensively...
I've done a lot high milage/ ironbutt stuff on RGs & BatWings.Never felt fatigue from fighting wind with either bike but I remember BatWing riders were amazed that I was getting noticeably better MPG on my RG than they were. The RGs are way more popular now than 12 or so years ago, my RG was one of the few around here. I appreciate the BatWing most riding in cold weather or rain especially when a long way from home. Having the windshield about 6" closer than the RG's is a difference maker but likely not as much of a thing if living in a better climate....All Time Favorite: FLHTCU

Yes. Initially I had called about a different bike which of course they had sold. They then told me about this other bike they had that was also a base model but it was a black one. I had also saw that bike on their website so I knew which one they were talking about. The salesman sent me some photos that he took this morning of it and it has a 107 and base model wheels. Only modification I could see was a solo seat.

Heck...I was bike shopping only 6 years ago and most dealers (that I visited) acted like Road Glides were some type of genetic accident. I would say there were at least 5-6 new batwings for every shark on the floor. Nowadays the Road Glides are given equal or even preferential billing at the dealerships. Things have definitely changed in that respect.

then i would definitely check with other dealers. that one is smoking crack.
Once upon a time an inebriated member of Harley's design team thought it would be a great idea to bolt the complete dashboard from a 1970 Chevy Vega to his wife's coffee table, and then mount the whole thing to the frame of an Electra Glide......voila.....the Road Glide was born!!

That same dealer called me again today. Theyre now providing a $1500 gift card with the purchase of a 2022 model bike. They started this incentive yesterday afternoon. I talked to them on the phone yesterday afternoon and there was no mention of this whatsoever. What a joke. I took the opportunity to grill the salesman a little on the high quote they gave me yesterday and he gave me some bs answer about a radio and some things they added on at the dealership. If theyre going to be that desperate to sell bikes maybe they should lower their asking price. Again i didn't make an offer or haggle with him but i did tell him i thought the quote was pretty steep. Maybe they'll call me again tomorrow and offer to give me some sexual favors in exchange to purchase the bike lol.
