I bought a new 2023 Street Glide ST in White Sand Pearl and I wanted to paint an old Tour Pack to match it. I did my best to find the color code but I never did. I did, however, find the ColorRite online store that had it. I ordered a pint of the base coat and a pint of the pearl coat. It cost $334! I shot it over a base of white urethane primer. I did two coats of base and two coats of pearl. I finished it off with two coats of Nason brand 2k clear coat. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good match! The ColorRite product resulted in a darker color.
To be fair, there are many variables when painting. I called ColorRite to see if they could help and they offered me a 10% discount on another purchase. No thanks.
Next time I am going to take a piece of the bodywork to my local autobody paint store and have them custom-match it for me. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has anyone found the PPG paint code (or formula) for White Sand Pearl? Bad match I'm afraid.
Honestly I think you may be the only one to notice.....don't sweat the small stuff. Lighting/shading...it's pretty close. You spent the money now just ride.
Good to know about ColorRite. I was thinking of ordering some paint for a project that I’m destined to screw up if I do it myslef.
I talked to an HD dealer yesterday. The story they gave me is they don’t have paint codes, but part numbers and you can order paint from the Moco. Touch up, or quarts. I just didn’t want a quart for about two feet of pinstriping.

I totally agree especially with white sand pearl my 22 fat bob didnt look the same between the tank and the rear fender so I am sure it wont show that much
I had the same issue with Black Quartz. Colorite wasn't even close so I ended up pulling my wallet out for $400+ of the HD stuff... The paint was more than I spent on the bags that needed to be painted... crazy.

Same. And after a few years in the sun, they will probably match just fine.
Those who do this for a living are likely matching things manually.
