Delphi EFI (because my MM has no flaws)
1" rear axle (because my 3/4" has not broken)
What I didn't miss by not waiting 1 more year:
First ride to The Hideout
First HD trip to Julian
First ride for my daughter
First Love ride with my lovely wife
First trip with my fellow '01 riders
First American Heat weekend in Palm Springs
Here is the way I looked at it.... I rode another bike for a while.... I wanted a Harley told the Wife she said why. I said because its a Harley she said whatever. I came home the next day with a Harley.
If you really wanted a Harley you would just go buy one and would not bitch about problems that might be happening. Or you can just ride the bus..... but I heard they might go on strike along with the grocery workers and any one else that provides a service. Get over get a Harley or just don't post you crap here.
Hi EX
I can't comment on if you buy now or wait for the new waterbottle, I can only say you have gone about educating yourself in the right way.
There maybe problems with future models who can say! But there is problems with the current models and have been for a few years now and as long as you are aware of them you can make an informed decision on if you a prepared to live with the faults or shell out the dollars to improve your ride. But very carefull about voicing your opinion on this forum as there is an element of one eyed dyed in the wool HD supporters very vocal on this forum and thats ok by me every one has there opinion.I suggest you do a search on bitching & whining and see the poll I started a few days ago, It seems that many are happy with there scoots although it seems there is a considerable % who are not so happy.
I purchased my first HD after riding a mates HD and I was sold, "I had to have one" ( against the advise of quite a few people I know ) and as luck would have it I got a lemon though my mates HD is fanastic ( luck of the draw I suppose ).
Buy something new or buy something cheap and ride. ( thats what is important )
I had"thought" about it for years I "decided" to get one this February, took the MSF class in March, got my MC license Wednesday of that week and bougtht my '07 RK Classicon Friday of the same week.
I had heard all the complaints but also asked many about their experiences and decided to go for it.
Lif'es been great ever since. It's a whole new world.
You need to just go for it. What you're doing is just like waiting to buya new television because the next model will be better or cheaper. I've been there and done that.
Last Sept. I was in the same boat. I had a couple of Jap bikes and always wanted a H-D RKC. I kept listening to all of the crap on these forums and was confused on what to get. So, I walk into the dealer I asked if he had a Silver RKC and he said no but I can get you one. I said I don't need it until April '07. I put down a grand and said call me. The bike came in I've been riding it around - ya it has some heat issue if I'm idling too long but now I have an excuse to get those Rineharts T-D's! I love the damn thing! I love looking at it, sitting on it, riding it, and I can't believe how many people look at the bike when I'm at a light and they just say "Damn thats a good looking bike" - they don't know its stock! Don't wait - its worth every penny to have it - NOW!
Got the ok from MSO to change my third bike in three years. I've been a way for awhile but I'M BACK. Dumping the 06 GW for a black 08 SG with anti locks. Can't wait to start spending foolish money on chrome again. The world is back in balance for me. It was a long ride from a BMW to a Honda but I'm glad to be home again. Thenew sledis due in around labor day.
I came off a liquid cooled Honda 1300 for the harley. The Honda is a great bike had no complaints, but all liquid cooled meant to me was something else to leak ,fill up or fix.Heat issues with a harley, stop at a red light on a 1300 in hot summer and the cooling fan comes on , no cooler than my Harley same roasted nuts no matter what.Just my $.02
