On both of my tour paks I also installed eglidegoodies brace much better than the tether.

This is standard. Opens from right hand side of bike. My guess, when the bike is on the side stand, opening this way allows for the lid to stay open. If it were to open from the other side, you would have to hold the lid open due to the angle of the bike on the side stand.

From personal experience. You get what you pay for. I have a Hogworkz king color matched tourpack. I'm 99% certain it's coming from the same Chinese factories as the Amazon ones. So I paid more than Amazon, but less than OEM.

The OEM tour packs are fiberglass/resin, where these aftermarket ones are plastic. (or another more technical term my tuner used) Does it really matter? Probably not unless you want to go install lights on it. The shape either wasn't right or expanded/contracted from the elements. The custom dynamics lights I bought fit perfect on an OEM tour pack but there is a small gap on my aftermarket. You would have to know to look for the variance, but it's there.

So, if you want it to be 100% perfect, spend the money. If you want value, buy the Amazon one, and it will serve the same purpose.

Just my $.02

Default OEM tour pack

My OEM tour pack appears to be ABS plastic. The same as my Advanblack stretched bags

The bottom of the tour pak will be much thicker and of different composition than the lid, for whatever that is worth. I’ve drilled holes in both.

I agree with Bike and Boards, I have an HD Chopped, my brother has an Amazon one, I used to have AdvanBlack extended bags... I've added the light bar to both of the Chopped tour packs and the HD tour pack is a bit stiffer. The other was just a bit more "flexible", and the light bar didn't match up quite as perfectly on it as it did one the HD tour pack. Found the same to be true for the saddlebags, the HD ones are a little heavier and a little stiffer. I wrote it off to different ingredient, or ratios, in the materials. I was not impressed with the aftermarket's hardware though. But at the end of the day, either will work...
