Default Backseat Bag

The old Saddlemen BR3400 Backseat Bag is due for replacement. Has anyone tried Harley's Onyx Premium Luggage Touring Bag or Onyx Premium Luggage Backseat Roller Bag on a Limited between an adjustable rider backrest and the tour pak? Don't freak, the prices are Canadian.

The tour pak is moved to it's rear location (1" back I believe) and the Saddlemen just fit if I left the front pocket empty. I could use the optional back pad however I prefer to keep the rider backrest for those days I stay in 1 location for more than the night. I need the backrest for much more than a few hours of riding.

Love my BR 3400's and took two of them on a trip last fall!

I had the opportunity to test the fitting of both the HD versions you listed and the depth was to much with the riders backrest. I ended up going with the Saddlemen S3500 which works well.

Buddy of mine has one made by T-Bag with wheels and pull out handle. Really nice. I’ve looked everywhere for one but not having any luck.

Same.. I have 3400 as well. Comes with backrest pad...I looked at those HD ones, but they were exactly same thing for about 100 more.

Thanks, I'll look into the S3500. The measurements show it's depth is 11" which is 1" less than the BR3400. The Harley ones are pushing 12-13". Saddlemen also states the measurements don't include pockets, not sure on Harleys.

I really want to keep the backrest on the bike. Sometimes I'll stay in one location for a few days to ride the local roads. Without the bag and an additional back pad I have no back support for a long day of riding.

Having to lose my backrest would be a deal breaker for me for sure. Especially since you’ll most likely be on a long ride when you need the bag. Long rides are when you need that backrest. Depending on which backrest you have, you may be able to move it forward slightly to make more room.
