Default Comp Cams Gator Clamps?

Quick question about hose clamps for heat shields; has anyone tried the Comp Cams Gator clamps?

I've used these on drag cars, diesel trucks, and a few other things with pretty good success. Was going to give them a shot on the heat shields on my Street Glide, but wanted to see if anyone had experience with them in that application yet.

Cheers!

I never used Gator clamps on heat shields.

I believe the Gator clamps are more expensive than quality, stainless steel hose clamps....

I'm curious.... what issue are you having with the regular hose clamps that you want to solve with the Gator Clamps...?

They usually run about $4 - $5 each and I have a Summit Racing about 45 minutes from home. There's, what, 9 clamps for all the stock shields on a '19 SGS? So, $40 - $50?

What I'm trying to solve is the fact that my clamps (even the all stainless replacements) are loosening up after 1,000 - 1,500 miles or so. I've tried tightening hot, cold, dry, wet, no lube, with lube, saying a prayer while drinking water and standing on my head, etc. And, they just keep loosening and rattling. I'm just getting tired of developing a rattle on nearly every ride.

No idea if the $40 - $50 for all of the Gator clamps would actually address the issue. Also not sure if my de-catted head pipes, cam, and tune are driving this. But, I don't think so.

So, I reached out to see if anyone else had experience with them in this application.

I'd really like to not have to break out the 1/4" ratchet with an extension, a universal joint, and a 5/16" socket every time I go somewhere.

First world problems, right?

I've never had an issue with the stock or aftermarket heat shield clamps.

I found that adding a little rust to my worm clamps kept them from moving.

I haven't heard of that specific problem before... perhaps they will solve it for you.. If so, they will be worth the extra $$$$$.

I was just curious as to what you were trying to fix.... I have found clamps loose before, but never had to tighten the same clamp more than once...

The only issue I've had on my bikes is that a few exhausts I have purchased over the years used cheap clamps, and they would rust up pretty bad, pretty quick... my bikes are stored inside, 15+ miles from the ocean, here in warm/dry SoCal... I've never had issues with quality, standard stainless steel hose clamps corroding badly or needing to be retightened multiple times...

Good luck and report back if they solve the issue...
