im not going to dispute that, but if im getting emulsion shocks i feel i should be paying in line with where most premium brands are priced. most other high end emulsion shocks are in the 600$ range. i dont really see much point in paying more for less. if pricing were comparable, or the products were comparable for the money, id be right there.
Good point and well taken. I would consider Bitubos. I have Base Ohlins on my 07 and it rides like a dream, I think I paid like $650. I have 14 Pro Action on my Tri Glide and I dont have them adjusted 100% yet but close. Not sure there is $250 worth of difference there but it is a totally different animal
I got my Ohlins from Howard a while back. They are 12" emulsions with a 3" stroke. He said he rebuilt it and it'll perform and ride better than most other brands 13". Not sure what he did but I'm very happy with them. I have some riding buddies that have the other brand shocks often mentioned on here. I've ridden their's and they've ridden mine, and they can't believe mine are 12" shocks. One switched to Ohlins and he's also happy.
Do call Ohlins and ask them anything you want. I'm lucky to live a couple hours away from them and have taken their facility tour. Great bunch of folks and will answer anything you have.
To elaborate on my earlier post, Im removing 12 Ohlins (solo rider) to replace with 13 Bitubos on a Road Glide. I did not find the base Ohlins to be superior to the less expensive Italian shocks.
Ohlins bought from Fuel Moto, I believe set up by Ohlins, and I checked sag when installing. They bottom more than the 13 Bitubos did on my 2020 Street Glide.
I have spoken to a shock manufacturer here and they tell me their "standard" spring is for riders between 165lbs and 190lbs plus the weight of the different bikes they offer them for. If that is the case with the shocks you bought then they won't support your weight.

Just curious if your Ohlins had the 3" stroke. My King has never bottomed out, even fully loaded 2-up with a TP riding on some rough roads at 75mph. I ride mostly solo, but with my better half, we tip the scale at about 300 lbs.

Good question. On the Ohlins S36 775 12” shocks the specs don’t say. Not that I can see anywhere, anyway. I will measure them when I have them off next week to install the 13” Bitubos.
They ship with the preload cranked down just like in the Ohlins picture, which I thought odd and questioned them at FM
Those are Ohlins Blackline version of what I have, except mine are emulsion and not sure if the 775 are separated. The size below are in mm. Like I said earlier, Howard built mine, and have been very happy solo or fully loaded riding.
