I had a pretty good accident in 2011, and thank God I was wearing a full face modular, as otherwise, my jaw would have had some serious damage. Was wearing a Shoei Multitec that day

Currently using a Schuberth C3 Pro. If I were shopping new, it would be a modular, and most likely a Schuberth (probably another C3 Pro since it fits perfectly, but want to check out the new C5), or a Shoei Neotec II. Both excellent (and expensive) helmets.

Shoei RF-1200 + transition shield = awesome.

I ditched the pinlock due to the distortion is caused with my prescription glasses, and I put in narrower cheek pads. No hot spots, no buffeting, and the helmet doesn't move at all.

I have a Nolan. Be aware that many helmets have changeable cheek pads of varying thickness.

I'm 55 and since January of last year, I've become an ATGATT guy. Got into my first wreck in 37 years of riding when some dingbat made a right turn from the left lane directly into my path. Thank God I had on full gear but mostly because it was cold out that day. Now I have Rev'It Offtrack pants and jacket that I wear no matter what even if I look like a dork.

You won’t look like a dork. Especially if you remove your helmet at gas stations/convenience stores. Do not walk around with a modular helmet flipped up, or a full face helmet pulled up to your forehead making you 7 feet tall with a huge bulge on top of your head. Otherwise ya, you look like a dork.
1/2 helmet guys can rock it but not full face guys.

I planned and did a 5300 mile trip from Chicago to San Diego back in September 2021. I wanted a better helmet than the half Harley helmet I had and I purchased this:

https://www.denniskirk.com/scorpion/...fp3313557.prdf

From the Million Dollar Highway 10k up in the mountains with rain and snow to 100* plus in Arizona desert to 80* and ocean breeze in San Diego. Through all the climate changes I really liked this helmet and the versatility, but kept the full face the entire trip because the comfort was so amazing. This coming from a "I don't wear a helmet feel the wind in my hair" guy who will be 52 in 3 weeks. Now I wear the helmet and don't care because most drivers don't know how to drive.

Ride safe!

Shoei or Arai. Cry once. But the comfort while using it is amazing!

Another Shoei Neotec II modular fan here. Had a Simpson Mod Bandit before. It was a bit noisier than I had hoped for and never really bonded with it. Fit of the Shoei is better as well.

I have my Cardo PackTalk Black mounted for comm & music. Even though I upgraded my audio with an amp & better speakers, I find I tend to use my Cardo helmet speakers to stream my music to most of the time...even if I'm riding solo with no need for comms. Not fighting wind noise and with the JBL speakers right there over my ears, the sound is fabulous.

If Sena is your preferred comms, then the slick thing about the Neotec II is it's made for the Sena SRL comm system integrated right in. I happen to prefer the Cardo and had them before the helmet so went this route.

For me...if I'm gonna wear a helmet, it may as well be a good one. Yes, they're expensive...but a lot less than brain surgery.

I went with the HJC carbon fiber. I'm an intermediate oval head shape with a wide jaw and a small head. I have to pull out most of the cheek padding from every helmet I get. It wasn't cheap, but I have no regrets buying it. Whatever you get, make sure it's for "cruiser" applications. It has something to due to where the front vents are located. My other mod is a Nolan. It fits good, but it's got this small flat spot area on the back of it that was grabbing air and pushing my head forward. The air, due to the batwing, hits the Nolan just in the wrong spot. The front vent on the HJC grabs a good amount of air for ventilation and quiet, whereas the Nolan's front vent was noisy.
