Took a few pictures at a pull-off by a state lot near a set of Indian Mounds, near a local park, and getting gas. Quick story…

Rode Elroy out to Sturgis and back last Summer. Bucket list trip. While there I spent a few hours at a saloon a block from Main Street to just watch the motorcycles come into town. I’m 73, a child of the 60s, back when Harleys were referred to “dressers” or “74s.” And have loved the “old school” look forever. Decided I’d really love having a Road King Classic on the modern frame, engine, and technology…so I did. Over the two months gone did the conversion and rode today with a big, *#^@ eating grin! Love this motorcycle…
They were also referred to as "biggo hurky hogs"
My iron horse is named "Topper" after my grandpa's horse. Hopalong Cassidy's horse was also named Topper.

My wife is the one that gives them names. You know that there is no explaining that. LOL

Thanks for sharing your story Hayden, I have a similar one. I traded in my 2018 Limited back in 21 and bought what I always say is my last bike, for a 21 Street Glide CVO, might as well go out big. I've done all the big rally's except Sturgis. My buddy has gone numerous times and always bugging me to go. I'm really thinking of taking him up on it this year. That's on my bucket list and I'm 72 in June. , just not sure wether to put the tour-pak on or go solo. I have never named any of my bikes but I think I'm going to name her Stella because I drink allot of Stella, the name just has a fancy ring to it.

OP, your machine looks super clean, congrats sir!
Hey, Reaper has been dang near to the moon and back. Clammy deserves to call his bike whatever he dang well pleases.

The King with the black tins and chrome looks absolutely stunning. A timeless classic for sure! Beautiful bike and great story to go with it. Thank you sharing it.

I truthfully don’t name my bikes, but the “Elroy” thing hit me and my brain instantly went to “Meet George Jetson…….” and Judy was Elroy’s sister.
