Default Elroy…

I know I’ll get ribbed for naming my 2021 FLHR Road King. But today is the first day I’ve been able to ride other than picking up the bike from the H-D dealership. We were gone the months of January and February, and I had taken the bike to the H-D dealer in late December for the mods. Took a few pictures at a pull-off by a state lot near a set of Indian Mounds, near a local park, and getting gas. Quick story…

Rode Elroy out to Sturgis and back last Summer. Bucket list trip. While there I spent a few hours at a saloon a block from Main Street to just watch the motorcycles come into town. I’m 73, a child of the 60s, back when Harleys were referred to “dressers” or “74s.” And have loved the “old school” look forever. Decided I’d really love having a Road King Classic on the modern frame, engine, and technology…so I did. Over the two months gone did the conversion and rode today with a big, *#^@ eating grin! Love this motorcycle…

The best part of your story is that you're 73 and still riding tall and strong. Be safe, ride hard.

Default Elroy? Hmmm.

Ribbed? Nah…but meet Judy. She’s my ride and I still hope to be able to when I’m 73.

I call mine Meg, which is short for Megalodon since it's a 2021, grey, "shark nose!" My other bike I call Red because, well... it's red! No shame in naming your ride. My wife has a name too!!! Bahaha.

Congrats on still tearing it up at 73!!

So. Is this your first Harley in 73 years? None owned in between? Congratulations and welcome to the world of HD. Ride safe.

Gotta say, I never understood the bike naming thing At least in-as-much as to refer to it by that proper name every single time you mention it, as if it were a living being, like that dude that calls his bike Reaper in Every. Single. Post. Instead of just saying "the bike" or "my bike" or "the Harley", etc..

I had a truck I called Ol' Blue, So there is that...
'splain it to me fellas! I can get on board...I may just need a little help

OP, your machine looks super clean, congrats sir!

My excuse for naming is that I have more than one. Saying "the bike" no longer immediately confirms which one I'm talking about. For me it was that simple. I'm sure others have different reasons.
