A very dead battery can act as an additional load/drain when another battery is used to jump start (terminal to terminal).
Do not jump from another vehicle that has the motor running.
From a distance it reads like several others have reported.
You must remove the battery and have it load tested.
Also, trying to jump start a totally dead or shorted battery could cause significant damage to your bike and the donor battery.
3 to 4 volts is beyond dead.
Ok sounds like I need to get a new battery. I'm sorry to be a bug but I was just trying to rule out any other possibilities. I thank all you brothers for every bit of information you have given me. I will get a new battery and see what happens. Hopefully my next post will say, "thanks everyone that was the problem," Safe and happy riding to everyone, I will let you all know what happens. Thanks again.
Thinking this through , you are connecting the car battery from terminal to terminal , ( Bat to Bat ) . Try to jump it straight to the starter ( pos on starter , ground to frame ) , does the starter engage or not .
I would still have the battery load tested . Also , check the cables , broken or corrosion inside the jacket could be the culprit .
Possibly a bad solenoid inside the starter ?? I doubt it , because you said the voltage is dropping to 3-4v when starter is pressed . You can remove the solenoid and clean it with emery cloth , but this is not nearly as good as if you were to replace the parts , you can purchase just the kit . A weak battery can cause pitting etc , in which case , cause poor connection . Guessing this is not your case .
Dont jump your bike with a running car. Ive read threads on here where that damaged the ECM. If your battery tests ok, check your grounds. I had your symptoms, it was a bad ground. Check both end of the battery cables not just battery side.
If I want a full charge on a bad battery I use a 2 amp trickle charger. I have a newer one thats smart it charges at a higher rate but slows down as it approaches full.
Battery tenders wont charge a discharged battery to full charge.
To start off with I would like to thank everybody for being patient with me and giving me their advice. I went today and bought a new battery put it in and she fired right up running great thanks everyone. Happy and safe riding to you all
Make sure to measure voltage at battery terminals with a digital meter.
Maesure:
At rest
Cranking
and then Hugh idle

To confirm that charging system is OK.
