Motor mounts or compensator after checking to make sure the front tire didn't pick up a rock that got jammed between the drivetrain and the frame. It's probably worthwhile to look at the exhaust mounts. Lastly a twisted crank.
Good evening everyone,
I have a 13 street glide and was riding home and all of a sudden I notice a bad vibration in the seat and footboards while accelerating,- What speed, what gear, and what RPM did the alleged vibration occur?
but it stopped once I got to cruising speed and didnt feel any vibration during deceleration.- What speed do you consider "cruising speed", and what gear, and what RPM is that?
Please tell me its a simple fix- Okay, it's a simple fix.
Thanks,
See above, help everybody help you...
From the 10,000 foot level, with your vague post, it sounds like you were in 5th gear trying to pull away from 30 MPH and once you got the engine RPM above 2500 it went away.
Sorry for the vague original post. Im at sea level and the vibration starts once I take off and my shift point were around 4500 to 5000 RPM and cruising speed was around 60mph. Also I already had been riding for an hour before the vibration start at acceleration.
Well if you’re shifting around 5000 rpm, you are redlining that sg motor. Is that a normal thing for you? Does the vibration start at lower rpms or only when you hit the higher rpms?
Have you done any work on the bike or added any equipment? The rubber mount motors can shift slightly under load so anything attached to the engine could interfere with something that is close to, but normally doesn't touch. An exhaust pipe could shift and hit a foot board, the rubber mount at the exhaust end of the muffler could be cracked or worn so the muffler hits some other component. The engine locating rod end mount bolts might have loosened. Lots of stuff to check but nothing too hard to tighten or relocate slightly. If you can't find anything interfering, you might have a deeper mechanical problem. Go for the easy (cheap) fixes first.
