How long have you guys had your ride, do you trade up, if so when? What's the average length of time someone has the perticular bike they have now before they buy new?
I have an Ultra... Is it possible to "trade up"?

Hmmm...

I bought my first HD on May 22nd 2001 it was a Softail Standard. I owned it for alittle over 3 years and loved all 18,886 miles of it. Then Ion May 22nd 2004 I bought my Road King.Kinda crazy it was exactlly three years later.I love this Bike so much I don't have any plans on ever getting rid of it. I wish I could of kept my Softail but I couldn't continue to make both HD payments every month. So the Softail went bye-bye.

so yeaahh mine is a keeper but ill also be getting rid of others throughout time...

I'll keep mine til I can't ride no more, it nickels and dimes me to death or they quit selling gas and I have to resort to an aircooled vtwin electric motor you know the all new HD ELECTRIC GLIDE.

I want to hang on to the SG for a while. I had a year and a half's worth of drama getting it to run right, so I would like to catch up. Just ride for a while, no word wars with the stealers, or calling corporate and complaining... The bike has what I want, so it is not like I feel like I am missing anything... As far as baggers go, I am done! I have what I like!
I am worried that the next new one I get will be as bad of an experience as this one was. Don't get me wrong, I love the bike, but the runaround drama to get a brand new bike to run right was STUPID. Really ruined me for going to dealers and looking at stuff, cuz all the dealers around here, Rockville, HD of Washington, Patriot, and even Winchester were the same "they all run like that" type of approach. So, if I buy a new HD? Will not be from the aforementioned stealers..... Moving to NC next summer so will probably be a NC dealer's chance.... Took my SG to one independent, he agreed the bike ran like crap, fixed it, and down the road I went. So much for HD's warranty, so the next one may not be new. Prolly a year old bike that feels sorted out, or a custom bagger from the ground up, S&S motor, carbed, and with a Baker DD6 tranny... But who knows. Now that my bike runs right, and I have a great relationship with an independent shop? My bitterness may fade.

As far as trading bikes making me a Rub? I don't give an f' about labels, except for Levi's, Jack Daniels, and a few others... so call me whatever you need to.... If I gun the motor, all I hear is Rineharts...

You mean you're supposed to get rid of the old one when you buy a new one ?

I'll trade as soon as the MoCo gives me a good reason to - in the last 7 model years, they haven't, it's literally a carbon copy of what I'm riding now.
