Default Ride-On tire balancer and sealer review

Well, I rode some miles on my new setup with Dunlops AE. I decided to not get my wheels balanced when they were mounting them and instead, went with Ride-On product that balances wheels and at the same time, seals the puncture, which is a nice benefit. Another thing, although I did not experience this yet, is that this particular product is not messy for next tire installer. From what I read, other products get all over the place on tire machine, this one doesn't (per reviews)

Here is what I bought:
Amazon.com: Ride-On Tire Balancer & Sealant, 8 oz. : Automotive Amazon.com: Ride-On Tire Balancer & Sealant, 8 oz. : Automotive

Now, this stuff is not cheap. I had to put in 10oz. in the front and 14oz. in the back for my tire size. You can go to their website and enter your tire size and it will show you how many ounces you need. So all in all, I was in for close to $70

Pushing this thing through was easy. The bottle comes in with a hose and a valve removal tool. You take out the valve, let all the air out, squeeze in the correct amount of ounces into the tire (there are measure marks on the bottle), blow little air to clear out the air valve case, insert the valve back in and inflate the tire to correct PSI. Go ride. It was clean, no mess, and very easy.

The instructions say that it will take about 4 miles for the product to go around the tire. I did not notice any vibrations... at all. My bike is smooth as silk. Not even at the beginning while the product was "settling" . The ride is super smooth and I get the benefit of having some protection in case I run over a nail. No need for weights on the wheels, so that's nice too. Granted, I had brand new tires on that probably contributed 90% to the smoothness, but still, it proves that the Ride-on works great as a balancer. You can use it with already balanced wheels that have weights. The product will just account for those while it is settling in. You can also use it if you have TPSM.

Overall, I would highly recommend it if you don't want to deal with weights on your wheels, especially in the rare occasions when they fly off and now you are stuck somewhere riding on the freeway with your bike shaking.

i used ride-on in my last (current) tire change and while i'm happy with the results, i'm just having a hard time swallowing the cost to go with it again. last time, it was around $30 for the three bottles. for more than double, i may just go with weights this time around.

I used ride on for the front tire because I didn't want to see the weights. Good experience here as well. I've used beads in the past and they also worked well, but of course don't seal if you get a puncture.

I am happy that you are pleased with the results. However, for a fair test it would have been nice to know how much weight each tire needed for balance if the conventional method was used. Usually a mount and balance runs around $20 each so you paid around $30 for some puncture protection and the hope that it wouldn't gum up the tire machine on the next replacement. I have seen no bad reviews on this stuff but since I can't intuitively understand how it works I stick with the "old fashioned" ways. I would be curious how things are going at about half tread wear and shortly before replacement.

I have the balancing beads in mine. I'm happy with the results, and they're a bit cheaper than Ride-On.

$20 mount and balance is a steal, we charge $40 at the shop plus beads or weights depending on the wheel.

Have used RideOn past two bikes. No issues. No complaints on replacing tires. I will continue to use RideOn on all future tire changes. Yeah, maybe expensive, but there is the extra "insurance" of helping to seal punctures. To each their own. Pros and cons on any method used.

Would have been interesting to take a test ride before it was added to tire.

How does that affect those models with TPMS? Last year replaced the rear on the Limited and after reinstalling the wheel and adjusting belt tension realized had forgot to balance it. Have no vibration or shaking and 12k miles later no unusual wear.

I've used Ride -On in my last 2 bikes and they ride like they are on glass.
