I had my 13 Ultra dyno tuned June 13th. I showed up with KW 4.5 and no baffles installed but the KW Performance baffles in hand. The tech said you dont want those you want the louvered ones said youll pick up more low end torque with them. He had them instock and I bought them. He was right, I picked up 15 ft lbs of torque where it counts and the sound is just fine!

So you never compared the Performance baffle with the tongue that you had in hand against the louvered baffle that he sold you, is that correct? You just picked up 15 ft lbs over using a 4.5 can with no inserts?

I did install the performance baffles for one ride and didnt really like the sound and removed them. The guy who dyno tuned my bike said in his experience the sound is better and you get a nice low rpm torque curve with the louvered baffles. I trusted his judgement and opinion. He did not do any runs with the performance baffles.
I was previously using a custom download from V&H with a FP3. You can see how he was able to smooth it out and pick up torque with the baffles and proper tuning.

Got ya. It's funny, when I bought my KW Dominator 2-2 I talked with Khrome Werks. They told me to get the performance insert with adjustable tongue for the best low end tq. My tuner said the same. I think mine is fairly loud especially if on the throttle. Going to experiment a bit with louvered and the reducers.

Experimenting is probably the best thing! KW told me the same thing when I called them thats why I bought the performance baffle with tongue. Maybe my tuner just wanted add on sales! Haha!

And where did you set the tongues on yours? I have set mine just over 1/2" on both sides. My TQ curve seems a little late to the game. Not a dip just slow to climb to above 120.

The Performance Tongues for my Dominator, 2-2 inserts are set at 1" up. I just modified a Performance, tongue insert today to use in the 2-1 Outlaw that I have switched to and that tongue is also set at 1".

This has been a very useful thread since I'm getting ready to install the Khrome Werks 4.5 HP Plus mufflers from my previous bike onto my new bike and was thinking about trying some different baffles.
My mufflers still have the original baffles in them. Does anyone know what baffles came in these mufflers from the factory?
They don’t come with baffles. They have a “lining” inside the muffler, but no removable baffle. Installing any of the above is a 10 minute job (if you have to pull the end caps)
My understanding is that if your looking to replace the lost torque, on a mostly stock bike, go with the louvered baffles.
If your going to upgrade, go with the performance, to give your tuner more ability to dial your ride in.
If you want sound, go with the Ripper inserts.
I have the louvered, sounded great the night I put them in. Bike lost the starter the next morning, so haven’t had a chance to run them for real, yet.

Good information, thanks! It sounds like I wouldnt gain anything by adding baffles then. I have the stock intake and dont have a tuner, and I wasnt really looking to increase torque, just hoping to make them just a little louder. Since I still have the catalytic converter its probably as loud as its going to get.
I can live with that, it still sounds much better than stock!
