Default Question on years for compatable compensators.

I have a 2008 Road King that needs to be updated to the SE eagle comp. I already have the upgraded rotor 30041-08, so I know that the SE comp part # 422000642 will fit on my bike with that rotor. This Se comp according to Harleys part numbers for the 2012 comp run up through to 2014. Then from 2015 on up, Harley no longer has SE comps available on their site. They now have the comp under regular part numbers 3650034A.
I am just wondering if the new 2015 part number 3650034A is actually the same comp as the 2012-2104 comp 422000642 with the only difference being the part number change, as I heard that HD started installing the SE comp on later model 103's as standard equipment.
Both part numbers sure look exactly the same to me. I think maybe the only difference would be the oil drip part that is recommended to be glued to the outer primary cover of the earlier models. I all ready have plenty of the shims that go between the rotor and spring pack.
Thanks up front.

I didn't bother to look up all the various part numbers, but when the Comp was "upgraded" in '06 Dyna and '07+ other models it had several versions until 2014, and was problematic. They did offer a Screamin' Eagle comp at that time, which did become OEM in 2010...

The comp made it's final and best update, for the introduction of the 2014 Rushmore bikes. That is the comp requiring a scoop for the outer primary cover to direct oil to the comp bolt.

That is the comp you want for your 2008.

Your OEM comp is no longer offered, and the retrofit version of the newest Rushmore comp, is also now called the Screamin' Eagle Comp Kit. But it is a differetn animal than the SE comp from pre 2010 that became OEM in 2010. (it may have been 2011 when it became OEM, I forget)

The retrofit of that comp for the earlier bikes required a change of the rotor and I believe also needed a shaft extension, and newer rotor.

The current SE kit for your 2008 shows as part #40100061, which includes the newer style rotor..

I can understand you not wanting to buy a duplicate rotor, but if you want to piece out the other parts, I would buy them from the parts list on the instructions for the #40100061 kit, to avoid any confusion over older numbers, number changes, etc...

So double check my numbers, but that would mean you want to buy the:

#36500034A Comp kit, which includes the shaft extension, sliding cam, comp sprocket, thrust washer, thrust bearing, sprocket retainer, screw, retainer clip, and oil deflector @ $287.00

and

#83936-09A Spring pack @ $105.00

I believe that is all you would need. And it would be saving money from the cost of the whole # 40100061kit, which includes the #30041-08A rotor assembly, which you say you already have on your bike.

Double check my part #s, I could have made a typo while typing them from the list... but I hope this info helps
