Default Samsons on an '06 RK

Installed a pair of Samson Rolled Thunders and a PCIII last night on the RK. Except for SE/AC, the bike was bone stock. All I can say is wow. Just effin' wow. It's like night and day. Getting a little popping on decel, but not all the time. I used a canned map that matched my setup exactly. Should the map be tweaked, or bike dyno'ed to completely eliminate the popping? Or since it happens so infrequently, is it nothing to worry about? Is getting the bike dyno'ed a good idea in general?

Thanks!

Dyno tuning is good if the tuner is good, if it runs great and olny has slight decel pop now and then, its your call. If I did do it, I would ask in here for the name of a good tuner in your area first.

Samson's have always been know for there little pop on decel... Ran them on my '01 RKC before I changed over to Rineharts TD's .. Stuck then in the corner of the garage and when I got the '07 Rodie slapped them on her... Set her up with a Ness Big Sucker and V&H FuelPak and couldn't be happier... Still has a Lil' Pop... But I Like It..................

I had these mufflers on my old RK Evo and never had any problems with popping. Try this: Remove the mufflers, use some anti-sieze compound on the joint, and tighten the clamps firmly. The decel popping can be caused by leakage around the mufflers.

I used a canned map that matched my setup exactly. Should the map be tweaked, or bike dyno'ed to completely eliminate the popping? Or since it happens so infrequently, is it nothing to worry about? Is getting the bike dyno'ed a good idea in general?
Depends on who provided the canned map. The maps from the PC site aren't always spot-on, but if yours came from Fuel Moto it should be very close. If if it runs well and you like the gas mileage, leave it alone. If you don't like the mileage, lean out the cruise range. On my bike I went to "0" for most of that range and have no issues. Mileage is quite good.

SoCal_Pappy: Yeah, I kind of like the popping too, I was just worried that popping indicated an overly lean condition. Don't wanna burn a valve...

iclick: The map that I used came from PC's web site. Not too worried about mileage, just want make sure the engine is not leaned out. That's a good idea about the anti-seize at the joint, I'll have to try that.

Thanks All!
