It helps me. All of the bars were adjusted for short people at a recent demo day and my neck started hurting after a few rides. It's a disc problem I've had for years but it doesn't bother me with the mini apes on my Dyna.
To me , my HSTC buckhorns are the perfect bar, My stock RGS bars are ok - BUT some guys hate them. Its all in your geometry. Me I cant ride with apes as they kill my elbow..
I have Helibars, it's got so many adjustments, its crazy. And unfortunately after trying most positions I still get shoulder pain. With each adjustment I can feel pain shifting on my shoulders. This I think tells me that my pain is bar related.
I'm going to try few more adjustments, if it doesn't work- will replace my bars to WO579.

Use a rider's backrest. That keeps me from slouching and getting the pain you're talking about. Some adjustable klip hangers or some kind of adjustable bars could help too.

Some people really like this. For me it put in an unnatural spot, that wasn't quite right. I am very pick about my truck seat, or I get hip pain if to far forward. When I use highway pegs or backrest I get hip pain. something has to take the force, you need to choose what is right for you,]

For me, building up my muscles by riding works better, Sometimes little weak in the spring. As I age, will see. Maybe a better one with more adjustments. But lots of miles without, and no interest to put one on now,
