I recently bought a TC Road King.
This is my 1st rubber mounted bike and although compared to my Softails it is very smooth, I do have some buzziness in the mirrors.
Is that normal?
You can tell visually if the front mount is starting to disintegrate. The center post that the bolt runs through will start to separate from the rubber isolator.
Yes , what Stiggy said , if you have a lot of miles on it , chances are it's on it's way out , kinda hard to see if the center post is breaking away unless you take it off and check .
I helped a friend do his 04 Rk , his was totally shot , but you wouldn't know it unless you took it off . The first one he ordered was too hard , so he went with Glide Pro , much better . From what I understand , there is a precise way of installing it , centering it and torquing it down . Sorry , I wasn't paying much attention to his work , my job was to keep the beer cold , Lol .
Another Glide Pro fan here. Went through several Harley front mounts the Glide Pro is a survivor. Several other things, if you’re doing the front rubber mount make sure and check the condition of the front and top stabilizer links, assuming this is an older bike these wear out also. Alignment is critical to eliminate vibes, new parts won’t help if bound up from bad alignment. Follow the Glide Pro videos if you’re DIY.
My 2004 Road King had a low rpm shudder tough to get rid of. Besides the condition of the mount and stabilizers an intake leak even very minor will cause vibes. The ‘04 was a carb bike so no computer controlled fuel to compensate for a leaking intake.
My earlier EVO had a clutch housing bearing go loose in the housing, again just slightly but any play in that assembly = vibes that don’t go away.
Don't install a drag specialties mount , way too stiff. I installed one on my 06 and the vibrations were terrible . I swapped it out for a HD mount and it was so much better
