I just picked up an old cop bike that has a set of Pirelli's on it. Beside being old and that will be remedied shortly, what's your opinion of those tires. The one's on my bike seem to handle pretty good for being old. I'm not sure how many miles these have on them , but would like to know what kind of miles you guys are getting.,,,
I used to run Pirelli on my sport touring bikes. Tried the touring models on my 1989 ElectraGlide. Went to Dunlop 491 Until they stopped making them.
I've been using Metzlers until this new bike. Have a pair of Metzler 888 I'm gonna try out next. I bought this set of tires when the Dunlop American eagles were hard to get. But I got 12000 miles so far out of the rear American elite on my 2019 FLHTP.
I like how the American Elites handled. Depending on mileage from the Metzlers, I will consider buying the American Elites again.

I have a pair of Night Dragons on an FXDC. Probably not what you have now as these won't last more than 5K miles and probably much less. These are as good as it gets for me. When I apply the rear brake it stops the bike, no more instant squeal from a tire about to skid. These handle nice and corner confidently down to scraping the pegs which I don't do any more, but the performance is there if needed.
Low mileage is the result of a seriously sticky tire. I never expected the Night Dragons to go very far, but I do love the way they stick. It is noticeable.
There are lots of seriously high mileage tires available and lots of them have great handling characteristics.
I just got spoiled putting sticky tires on my bikes.
