Default Service schedule and cost

I'm looking at more than likely purchasing an 05 Electra Glide Classic this week. What is the service schedule like, and how much do they usually run??

I've got an 04 RKC the schedule is 1K, 5K, 10K, 15K, etc. Basicly every 5K and the dealer charges at least $200 each visit. Some of the maint. you can do yourself and save a few bucks. I'm not sure how it affects your warranty but I think if you keep track of your own oil changes and maint you'll be OK. Anybody out there correct me if I'm wrong.

Do your own maintenance, document what you did, keep all receipts, and your warranty will be fine.

And wallet fatter while you have the satisfaction of having done the work yourself.

My dealer said that just the FIRST maint had to be done by authorized mechanics, after that receipts would keep up warranty.

I think you are right about the first service being mandatory at the dealer for warranty purposes. While negotiating for the bike, make the dealer include that in the price. Most dealers will do that if they think they will lose the sale if they don't.

If you are in an area where there is more than one dealer, negotiations are easier. When we just had one dealer in 200 miles, it was hard to get anything. Now that there is another dealer 35 miles away things have changed.

Good Luck.

Regards,

Bill
