Default New Bikes!!!!!

Been a while since I’ve been on the forum.

Traded my 15 RG standard for a RGST with the 117. Also traded my wife’s 09 Heritage for a Low Riser ST with the 117.

Here is my question . . .

How can I match the crazy freaking power of her Low Rider. This thing could drag a crotch rocket and hold its own. Not so much with the Roadie. I think it is just geared different. But not sure. I say mine is fast, and hers is scary fast.

Anyhow, here are some photos.

Power to weight ratio, you are 120 pounds heavier so that's like hers with a 120 pound passenger on board.
Big bore 128" kit might be what you want to even things up.

Congrats on the rides!

Scary fast...they ain't, but you can put an aftermarket cam and tune in that RG and wake it up to wear you will really enjoy it.

Good luck!

What he said.

It's the same engine, you're just a lot heavier. You actually have the advantage with gearing...the Low Rider ST has slightly taller gears.

As for performance....how much do you want to spend on the engine? A decent air cleaner, exhaust, tuner and cam will wake up your Road Glide, or you can go completely apeshit on the engine if you want. 128" kit, heads, larger throttle body, larger injectors, etc. Your imagination and your checkbook are the only limiting factors.

Most stock Harley motors will wake up with the right cam and a good tune. Congrats on the new rides.

Congrats on the new additions! The gearing on the Low Rider is a bit different than your RG, so the Low Rider will feel "scarier".

The rider's weight has nothing to do with it; if he rides the LRST and thinks it's faster than his RGST, his weight is the same, so it's not a factor.

The bike's weight is a factor though.
Low Rider ST weighs 721 pounds wet.
Road Glide ST weighs 842 pounds.

So, OP, try out the LRST with a 120-pound passenger on the back and see how it compares to your RGST with you on it solo. If it's about the same, then you have your answer.

The engine may have a different cam or state of tune too; there's a minor difference listed
RGST lists 127 ft/lbs at 3750 rpm.
LRST lists 125 ft/lbs at 3500 rpm.

To the OP: if you want to get the same blast from your RGST as the LRST delivers, that's pretty much what the 131 ci Stage IV kit will do for you.
