Is this normal?
Paul, no... there's been no increase in lifter noise, so that's reassuring for me. In fact, I changed the spark plugs and, with the fresh new oil change, the motor has never sounded smoother/quieter.
I'm not familiar with how to do a manual reading of the oil pressure, so I'll take it to the stealership and see if they can give me a manual read. Thank you ALL. .

However with the no oil light when the pressure reads zero, and a smooth, quiet engine.... I'd just ride it... If it starts to make unusual noises, I'd investigate further..
Also need to keep in mind when reading, is I believe they changed oil pumps, guessing with 96" My 88 and 96" have different values, 88 reads higher.
If you are pushing 60 psi when cold, that makes me wonder if gauge is working. I don't know how gauges work. I just basing that off at times it reads high
Mechanic friend of mine scuff at gauges, says you will hear lifters. But that is not to say it cannot be tool.
If it reads high cold, and then goes low when hot. I would be thinking about this. It implies to me the gauge is working over a range of PSI. Again I don't know how gauges work.
I am sorry my groupies follow me around.
