The Limited with a quick detach is where I am at (it was before I started this thread, but I am feeling better about it). If I can get some kind of package deal on the quick detach, I'll have that thrown in, otherwise I'll do that at the first service.

A standard with ABS and a GTS (I upgraded from the 6.5) is basically the same bike as my current 2017 RGS (just missing the hydraulic clutch). Thanks for mentioning RDRS. It's a feature that I have been ignoring because I don't really want it (at least I think I don't). But I planned to add the TPS to whatever bike I get with the first rear tire replacement.. But, after researching it just now, I learned that TPS is included with RDRS; that brings down the $ penalty, when buying a bike off the floor, for bikes equipped with RDRS.

If I was in the market for a road glide I’d skip the mods and go buy an Indian. You already said they don’t make the bike you want. Look elsewhere. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oil cooling is ****** awesome, just saying. Was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic from Chicago to Indianapolis in 99 degree heat a few weeks ago and I'm seriously impressed with how cool the motor was.

the bike I want would look like a ‘22, standard (as opposed to Special) Road King, but with a 114 and a Road Glide fairing and all of the features that come with the shark faring.

But to the Indian comment.. In 2020, my bike was down waiting on parts as my 2 week vacation began. So I rented an Indian Chieftain Darkhorse for 4 days. Nice bike. In every category that I could think of: ride, comfort, cornering, speed, economics of the bike infotainment system, it beat my Road Glide… except two: it was ugly and I just didn’t want one.

If Harley were to discontinue production, I would be happy to own an Indian, but I just prefer the Harley.

No, my current bike is fine, but the option for more is always nice.

if you dont care for the blacked out option, dont want stretched bags, dont want to be locked in to hard lowers for the wet head radiators... id get the standard road glide, swap over all your parts you put on your current bike, add what you want, and get a SE stage 2. itll have more power than the 114 w/ a warranty, have the flexibility of putting on soft lowers for rain or cold temps or no lowers for air flow, youll have the bags you want, and be out the door for thousands less.

I would go ST. You get the taller shocks, normal bags, etc. and 117. The Limited would be out because I would not own a Harley with water cooling and hate those ugly @ss plastic lowers. The detachable tourpak on the Limiteds are a little more complicated too than just putting a detachable tourpak on a Special or ST. I prefer soft detachable lowers that quickly zip on and off.

But hey, I prefer a Road King over fairing bikes and I have owned an Ultra Classic, Limited and Street Glide. I hope they release a Road King ST.

I thought a quick tourpak detach kit would be one of my first mods on my RGL but found that even on shorter trips I like having that tourpak for use.

I agree, the chieftain is an ugly duckling. I was referring more to the Challenger, even the Challenger Pursuit. More apples:apples with the fixed fairing bikes. I’ve ridden both models of Challenger and HD better be glad they have the following they do, it’s a better bike in just about every measurable. Where the HD edges it out every time (for me as well) is pure aesthetics, and the fact that it’s an HD and not a Polaris lol.
