I'm real pleased with the IDS on my 07' ultra . NO CLATTER! less 5th gear whine. I rented an 06' for a week it was stock, whined 4th gear,Ran pretty damn hot! I figured that it was epa lean, way too quiet too! hated the stock mufflers. I've got my new bike tuned with the sert (did it myself after some help from some really cool people Doc1 particularly) runs cool, quiet, nuffsaid

I agree with you 100% Richard. The compensator is the cause of start-up clunk, low speed clatter, vibration .I own a 2007 FLHX and I pulled the compensator apart to see what was wrong.at 1500 miles. The ramps are too gradual and long . Mine were shined up 2 inches long from jerking back and forth. I could put a wrench on the bolt and turn the sprocket 30 degrees before the ramp caused the crank to turn the engine. The ramp design on 99-06 Twincam is much steeper. With the engine sprocket being of larger diameter, I think you need steeper ramps and increased spring pressure to handlethe torque.I have seen H-D litterature saying the ramp design has been changed on the new Rocker bike coming out in September.I am waiting to find part # for this new comp. to buy one.The early 2008 part # is the same as 2007 part #.

They changed the compensator and added the IDS system on all 08's
If I do the IDS on my 07, I'll get an 08 compensator also... This should be a re-call...

YOU HEAR ME MOTO? YOUR PUTTING THE SCREWS TO YOUR '07 OWNERS...

Gee, '47 says it's the same part and you're saying it's not. His write-up sure sounded authoritative. What do you base your information on?

Thought I'd check in with my own rant on this subject...

When H-D came out with "standard" automatic primary chain adjuster, with easy retrofit to earlier model-year primaries, were there mobs of disgruntled owners lined up screaming "Warranty Recall!" ???

When Twin Cam 96 was introduced, did Twin Cam 88 owners demand a Free Stroker Kit ???

Hell...when y'all beg H-D to address a problem...AND THEY DO...should they eat the upgrade-retroactive to 1903 ???

I guess, like Shooter 64 signature sez: "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished."

Ride it, Trade it, Fix it, or Sell it! Rant over. Flame-On...

Having the CB upgrade added to my EG Classic this week. After reading about the IDS option, I decided to check with my dealer on getting it installedwhile they had the bike.

The service writer (an experienced one, I might add) was not sure what I was talking about. But they didtheirhomework and got back with me.

As luck would have it, thedealer had one in stock, and the only reason was they ordered it at the dealer show. They had not yet installed one according to the service writer. I talked to the parts manager and informed him that a number of riders around the country were installing this option on their 07's. I offered to give them feedback on this accessory as the first 07 to get one installed, if they would make me a good price--dang if they didn't do it.

I don't pick up the bike until late next week. I will report on the results.

My dealer needed a test subject and I was thr first one to inquire. They did it for 210.40 installed. After riding the bike, I would have paid 3 times that.

The difference is awsome. My first thoughts were "this is how a touring bike should be!'

I guess I better get in line at the local stealer and get one of these rubber bumpers for my rear sprocket. I haven't heard any transmission noise but have noticed that my compensator will clank at times when I take off fast. [sm=escape.gif]
