Ride on, I have a 2019 Ultra Limited. The black rubber heated grips are wearing away. I have looked at Kuryakyn covers to go over my the heated grips. Also considering just buying the Harley Davidson grips. I wouldn't buy the rubber ones. They are cheaper and only lasted 23,000 miles. The other styles sold buy HD brings a question. Are they just plug and play? I would be removing the original grips and installing a HD pair. Also has anyone tried the Kuryakyn #6781and where you happy with them? Thanks.
I had the same problem with my grips. My left side was sticky. Right side was ok. I removed the rubber off the left grip. I had an old pair of avon unheated grips so i removed the rubber off of them & it slid over the harley grip that i had removed the rubber from. All is well, doesn't match the right side, but i don't care about that
Probably too late now, but wearing gloves resolves the problem of sticky or deteriorating rubber grips. Typically, it's sweat and oils from the hand's skin that's causing the damage. If you don't ride wearing gloves then frequent cleaning will help preserve the rubber on the grips. Many use baby shampoo or simple bar soap w/water to clean them. Just be careful to NOT use anything that's strong like de-greasers, alcohol, ammonia etc. etc.

I had HD Kahuna heated grips on my previous 2012 UC and loved them so when I got my 2020 RGL, one of the first things I did was replace the bars and while at it, swapped out the stock rubber heated grips with HD Kahuna's again.
Easy plug & play...unplug stock, plug in the new. And they work so good. I'm in the north and will ride as early in spring & late in fall as possible so it gets chilly. Don't think I've ever needed to go past 3 on the dial though.
Pretty easy, plug and play, unless you wire it internally. Then it becomes a project. I got the ***** G. series, and love them!!! I would not cheap out. Buy once . You know the rest.

I use the Grip Puppies 'Big paw' covers on my stock heated grips. I have big hands and the added size makes them much more comfortable for me and the heat comes through nicely in the winter. I replace them once they start looking worn, usually put a new set on during winter maintenence. They are about $20 and install in a few seconds with a shot of air from the compressor nozzle.

I use these leather grip covers and like them a lot. Took a few minutes to get used to the extra thickness/diameter of the wrapped grip but actually prefer it now.

Does the heat from the stock grips radiate through the leather well?

Yes. It takes a few minutes more to heat the hands due to the extra thickness. The heating capacity of the grips is easily able to accommodate the wraps though. I used to use setting 2 or 3 and that hasn't changed. The best part is that now I don't have to worry about sunscreen, bug screen, oils, etc. breaking down the rubber on the stock grips. I went through 2 (maybe 3?) sets of grips prior to finding these wraps.
