Default Super Shox relocation mount

Has anyone out there installed the Super Shox Premium 14" on an M8 bagger (I have a '17 UL) with a trailer hitch installed? I am very much interested in a set of them but the relocation mount is going to put it very close to the hitch vertical support arm. Brian at Super Shox agrees it will be very close but evidently at this point is unsure if it will make contact at full compression. So....anybody have any experience with this? Of course I'm gonna keep digging to figure it out but I'd love to know what others may have done plus I'll have some comparison notes and input from someone else I hope. I have searched this forum and the internet for this specific issue but have come up with nothing so far, But, it's always possible that I've missed something. Thanks in advance.

I have SuperShox on my 2015 Ultra Limited. Since you've already called Brian and he said he wasn't sure about the fit I wonder if Brian would be willing to sell you a set and IF THEY DIDN'T FIT would he accept a return?

He's a pretty easy guy to deal with so maybe call him to ask. IF they fit I know you'll like them. They made a huge difference for me on my 15 Ultra Limited.

Good luck,
RW

It was a beautiful day yesterday and I took a day trip ride to a HD dealer who is also a Super Shox dealer and they had a set that someone had ordered and then didn't take them. So I was able to hold a relocation mount up to my bike and it looks like it should be fine.

And yes, Super Shox will let me return them if I were to order and they didn't fit but I'd prefer not to hassle with all that if easily avoidable. And like everyone else has said who has dealt with Brian at Super Shox, he is very easy to work with; hard to beat and that speaks volumes to me.

I've read up a lot on various brands and reviews and I've made up my mind that if I do go with new rear shocks, it will be Super Shox - I have read a lot of reviews and have yet to see a bad one for them. No doubt there are a lot of very good shock brands out there which you can't really go wrong with. Kind of like seats, exhaust, handlebars, etc etc. - everyone is different and it's not a one size fits all for any of them. For me, Brian is great to work with, the forever warranty is great (Pro Action come to mind on this; 30 days, it better be in perfect shape and you cover the shipping), and the product is great. I'd love to have the Platinum 14" with the remote 8 setting fine tune adjuster but $1400 is something I gotta think about hard (although not really out of line price-wise relative to other brands high end setups). We are 2-up a lot and on any given ride we could hit lots of different types and qualities of roads and the ability to basically adjust on the fly might be very nice and helpful. We ain't spring chickens anymore lol and creature comforts are nice to have.

One thing I want to do before going with other shocks is install a new stabilizer link called the Missing Link from Rack & Pull Industries (on order, not received yet). The mount bolt holes on the bike are not the same distance apart on the left as on the right and some have said that this adjustable stabilizer link can be used to fix that. At about $100 it is a relatively low risk to see if it works. I have 94,000 miles on the bike and have never had any pulling or tracking issue of any kind and there has never been any rubbing on the drive belt so I am not doing it for any of those reasons although I will have to monitor all those things after I install it to make sure that the new link does not cause any of them to happen. I am doing it only for the suspension. As it is now with the differences of right and left, I cannot get equal preload and sag on both sides and that has to affect the ride. Either the sag will be the same and the preload different, or else the preload will be the same and the sag different. It's somewhat like the OEM shocks where the left side is doing a lot more of the work than the right - one side is doing more of the work as it is now no matter what. I have to think that affects the ride quality.

I have had Legend Revo-A's for several years now and have never really been able to get them dialed into what we like. Of course they are much better than stock but we all know that's not saying much at all. When I first installed them is when I figured out the bolt mount holes were different distances and I've just tried to make the most of it. But I just recently came across this Missing Link product and want to give it a shot before spending a bunch more money. I wasn't aware of anything like this before. I have actually had to send the Legends back a couple of times in about 40,000 miles that I've had them for oil leaks and noticeable degraded ride and they have treated me very good in getting them back to me but if the ride doesn't improve after installing the link and doing a complete resetting from scratch of the shocks, I'm for sure gonna go Super Shox way.

I'll try to remember (I am old though) to update when that all happens but it will probably be quite awhile; possibly January or February.

Hopefully someone else can benefit from this info.
