Default Bars: FLHX to FLTRX

New owner is taking delivery of my tried and true mule this weekend. She will definitely be missed. However, not long after, I’ll be taking delivery of my new-to-me Road-Glide. Looking forward to the improved wind shedding ability of the new bodywork and such. I chose to stick with a twin-cam unit.

Ergonomics-wise, I’m keeping my seat that’s been worked on, and letting the street glide go with a stock one. The bars as well. I’m very comfortable with the 12” PY bars I have now and have laid down about 40K miles with them in my hands. That being said, what should I start looking into that has similar construction for the new Road Glide? Doesn’t necessarily need to have the “hook” look about them. Honestly prefer that they didn’t.

any good suggestion on what to consider? I’m 6’ tall with average length reach.

I personally prefer a bit of wind as I have my windshield on my Roadking cut down to below my chin and plan to go own even another few inches, once I get another backup windshield. I just want a wind break and not have the whole push, as with no windshield at all, as it is tough with no windshield @ all.

That is why I favor the Roadglide is more of "riding in the wind" compared to the Street Glide when both are running the low (see over) windshield.

The Batwing is the best in the industry for rider protection. The Roadglide fixed fairing is the best for bike aerodynamics. Many on Roadglide's try to claim better wind protection, but simply not true as the pocket is just so much larger but I personally like it and "in the wind" is my game. Not so pronounced with the shorter riders of say 5'8" and below but still not as good as the batwing.

When you stated "improved wind shedding", just hope ya know where it is shedding....

Hope you enjoy and ride safe✌️

I’m 6’3” and ran 10” bars on a FLHX after trying 12”.

So I started with 10” on my new FLTRXS. Ended up swapping to 12”

I’ve had 12”, 14” and 16” apes on different touring bikes. I’m 6’1” with longer arms. I really like the 12” khromewerks I have on my RGL, they are almost 14” at the bend then the grips drop an inch or so.

I have 14" wild ones on my RG, had 12.5" bars on my previous SG and wanted to go a little taller this time.
