Man that is just crazy. A windshield will usually just have one long crack line. This is nuts!
I would never replace a good GTS unit for another brand. But if mine went bad I would so with Soundstream. A great unit with more features for less money.
Another option is to file a BBB complaint. HD will have to respond to it by law. They might just want to go through with the repair rather than deal with the BBB.
Its a private entity (BBB) , not a government agency, What law is this, you speak of?
Probably not... If I was adjusting this I would deem it on part failure or defect, improper storage. Its not accident or vandalism. If something fell off the overhead shelf.......

I was mixed up. A state attorney general complaint needs to be answer by law. But the BBB complaint doesnt have to be answered by law but they will definitely respond.
My dealership is amazing. I had a similar situation with a product on my bike. Warranty would not cover it. So may dealership said to buy the part and then they will take the broken part and swap it out and then send the broken part back as a defective return. Maybe talking to your dealership and asking if this is an option might help. Or, not saying you should do this but, going on Harley Davidson website and ordering the new head unit and then putting the broken one in the box and sending it back as damaged in shipment and getting the refund. Technically that would be morally and ethically wrong, but it's not directly hurting anyone. Only issue with this is if the box has the head unit serial number on it and they check when it comes back in. Hopefully your dealership can help you out with the swap out.

Sadly, too many people share your opinion..... The above attitude is the reason manufacturers have to look at all warranty claims with a skeptical eye.....
IMHO,
I don't believe committing a crime is ever the answer to a difference of opinion like we have here over the cause of the fracture..... Even if the decision to not handle it under warranty was made by someone with malice, I refuse to lower myself to their level.
I would exhaust all legal measures to correct what I believed to be a mistake. But in the end, the price of a new screen or radio is less than the cost of losing my credibility or the damage to my character by responding as suggested above.

Total understand with the swapping out. Thats why I said it would be ethically and morally wrong. But at the end of the day HD knows they can warranty it. They just choice not to in the hopes the customer that dropped $30,000 on a motorcycle will drop another $2000 on a new head unit.
This might sound a little off the wall, but is there any access/openings into the shed that would allow birds, or other critters, to get inside? I used to have this crazy *** bird show up at our sliding glass doors and windows and peck at his/her/he/she/it/they reflection in the glass. Drove me nutz!! Anyhow, bird pecking on a VERY cold piece of glass MIGHT have caused it??

You might have to convince HD that the damage was so bad it changed the serial numbers...
