Default Cracked touch screen

My 2023 street glide under 3000 miles was parked in my shed I went to load it into my toy hauler and found my touch screen has cracked. Nothing has hit this screen I have stored two ultras and a sportster the same way. When I arrived I took it to a HD dealership. And was told this is not warranty. I implored to them to talk to Harley warranty. After 24 hours and pictures looked at it was determined by the warranty gods that this is blunt force trauma and not warranty. There is no impact crack on the screen. Called customer care and was told they can’t do a thing because the warranty god has DENIED the warranty. Ask to talk to that person but was told they don’t talk to the people only dealership. This is a defective piece of glass that has shattered because of temperature not due to impact. This is not how I not ant Harley owner treated. Warranty is ther to cover defects in the product and they should stand behind their product

Maybe talking to your dealership and asking if this is an option might help. Or, not saying you should do this but, going on Harley Davidson website and ordering the new head unit and then putting the broken one in the box and sending it back as damaged in shipment and getting the refund. Technically that would be morally and ethically wrong, but it's not directly hurting anyone. Only issue with this is if the box has the head unit serial number on it and they check when it comes back in. Hopefully your dealership can help you out with the swap out.

Sadly, too many people share your opinion..... The above attitude is the reason manufacturers have to look at all warranty claims with a skeptical eye.....

IMHO,
I don't believe committing a crime is ever the answer to a difference of opinion like we have here over the cause of the fracture..... Even if the decision to not handle it under warranty was made by someone with malice, I refuse to lower myself to their level.

I would exhaust all legal measures to correct what I believed to be a mistake. But in the end, the price of a new screen or radio is less than the cost of losing my credibility or the damage to my character by responding as suggested above.

Could it be screen protector failure and not the glass itself?

Oh just great!

My '16 is living it's first winter in an unheated shed.

Now I gotta go out in the 14-degree temp this morning to check on the screen.

The only way I can see this happening is if there was a tiny impact crack in the screen and it spider webbed in the cold temperatures. Kinda like a wind shield.

2023 has no protector different kind of glass.
My 2020 sit in garage most of winter as low as 20 below not an issue. Seems like the one on 40,000 that has a minor defect and it exploded.
HD will do anything to get out of warranty repairs.

It should be fine as long as nothing hits it, or has excessive pressure applied to it at any point.

I have talked to a NASA optics engineer who reached out to me. He has shown the two cracks from temperature man blunt force trauma they are very different. There is no impact point on the defective glass. Nothing is 100 % perfect. This just had a defect and spider cracked. A warrantable defect
