I have a SE Chisel air intake. I find myself hanging my foot over the edge on the floorboard because the air intake sticks out quite a bit.
My questions to the collective are: Have you installed a floorboard extension and do you like it?
What type or kind did you install? Because I found a couple different types.
Does the extension installation cause excessive grinding of the floorboards in turns.
Would you do it again knowing what you know now? Thanks
I bought these off Amazon not expecting much for $40. To my surprise, they are actually really good quality with stainless hardware. I like it, and would certainly do it again.
After doing my exhaust , I put the standard Kuryakyn 3/4" floor board extensions on to prevent the heat shield from rubbing on the floor board bracket , worked well . With only a 3/4" difference from stock , I didn't even notice the change .
I can imagine , if you went further out ( 1 1/4" ) , you'd notice a difference . One thing I made sure of , is greasing the inner floor board bolts , so they pivot when you do scrape the ground , seen some that were so tight they wouldn't move .
I may just change mine out to the 1 1/4" , my inner thigh still rubs on my AC , this would help . Thanks 702 for pointing this out !
Yea I put em on......scraped before and scraped after........nature of the beast.......but lube those floorboards like mentioned so they dont stick.......that would suck!
I have DK Custom extensions. Move out about 1" or so. Have not noticed scraping, but then I'm not "heavy" into the corners. Also added the DK Custom extended brake pedal. Fit me well.
I did extensions on my 04, using stacked washers and longer bolts. I was well pleased with the width increase, it made a significant improvement in my comfort. As for scraping, it's basically a non-issue for me because I'm not cornering that hard.

+1 on this, hardest part was removing the bolts from the mounts, on the older models they are a real pain in the ars.
