new bikes are terrible!
Whenever I purchased my "bucket list" Harley-Davidson, I researched, studied, and considered all the bike models and eras available. I would have been tickled to purchase a new HD, and I took a serious look at them. But they were not the dresser that I was looking for.
I would love to purchase a new Harley-Davidson even today, but what they offer is not a dresser. It is a stripped down version of a Harley-Davidson. They are trying to become a foreign style of motorcycle. And the funny thing is that the foreign motorcycles are trying to become Harley-Davidson.
Go figure!
What I see being offered for 2024 does not inspire me to acquire a new Harley-Davidson. Only the retro icon series will hold any interest for me. I will wait to see what is coming in that series before searching for a Highway King.
The new bikes look great.
Really.... if someone doesn't like the new bikes or the direction HD is going, they are soft...?? What does that make you, a Koolaide drinker...???
There are sure a lot of people in these new bike threads hammering on people who don't agree with them... If someone disagrees, or God forbid rides another brand of motorcycle, that doesn't make them the "enemy".....
A forum is supposed to be a place where ideas are shared, and discussed. I do not see the need to put down someone who doesn't agree with me/us/our opinions..
The lost art of being able to agree to disagree, needs to make a comeback...
I have no intention of trying to force my opinions on other people, any more than I want someone else to force their opinions on me...
For the record, labelling someone with a derogatory name because they have a different opinion DOES NOT give any more weight or credibility to your opinion... Just saying...
That is all... carry on...
PS- the new fairing reminds me of Gort..... Not that there's anything wrong with that..

Dresser
Full Monty Dresser
I take it that you are not a serious person. And too young to know the heritage of HD.

I also grew up in the era of dressers, and local Shrine Clubs doing their elaborate maneuvers on their dressers at local parades.
What makes an evo dresser like yours, a dresser, and a 2024 Road Glide Limited or Ultra Limited not a dresser?
I mean, I truly dig all the fender trim and rails and such on an old Glide. I had one. Love it. But it’s not 1998.
I also loved Cadillac DeVilles the year your bike was built, and rented them on vacations, even bought a new one in ’06 (rebadged a DTS) , but it ain’t 1998 (or 2006) anymore.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Women used to be much more virtuous whenever I was young. But it ain't the '50s or '60s anymore. Should I be happy with the present state of things? And accept unvirtuous women?
Same thing with bikes. Should I be happy with the stripped-down Harley-Davidsons?
Just because things went downhill does not mean that it is as good or better and I should be happy with it..
