Dealers love to rip you off in anyway they can. They will obviously offer you way less than your bike is worth and then, with a straight face, charge you a premium on the new bike. It's all a big game to them.
You just need to be patient and negotiate as long as it takes to get a fair deal. Don't give in.
I have owned it for 5 months under 500 miles, I thought it would be worth about 22,000-23,000. Again I was only curious what it would be worth .I'm not totally impressed with the 24's at the moment.
It's a used bike now. Many folks looking at those prices will just buy new.

It is used, previous generation bike now. The 2024 models MSRP is 25,999 and dealer would have to make something out it as well, so if they pay you 23k add a measly 1k on top and why would anyone care about previous generation used bike only 1-2K below brand new one. On the other hand I've stopped by
Frederick MD dealer today and they have FLTRXS with 1300+ miles listed at 28k ! I expect it to sit there for a while, they didn't have a single 2024 model on the floor though.
Covid is over welcome back to reality. Its sad you paid that much wow.
no need to bust the guys *****. he really didn't 'overpay' for his bike. vivid black with chrome finish, no rdrs, assuming a 9% sales tax is gonna run $32,535.41. so if he got rdrs or black trim, then he actually did pretty good.

The tax rates in the last 2 counties Ive lived in are 6.5and 7%. MSRP if anyone even pays that was $27,999 so if the paid anywhere over 30k OTD he got grossed and over payed.

All the bikes I’ve bought new and traded in over the years have been a money pit, specially if I’ve invested in major upgrades. Bikes I’ve bought used from private sellers and traded in have been not so bad and have actually broken even once. Here’s a good way to figure out what you can get in trade specially from a larger dealer. Look over their used bike inventory for similar bikes and what they have listed them for. They try to make around $3k to $4k more than what they give you to prep, clean, service and sit on the bike till they sell it. A few dealers are greedy and they will shoot for $5k to even $6k over what they give you. You can negotiate your trade-in with the sales manager but you have to have some logic and facts on your side. Saying I paid $12k more 6 months ago doesn’t work, they are basing your trade on what they think they can sell your bike for.
My strategy would be, rather than try to trade just to the dealer who has the bike you want, see if any other dealers will do any better buying it outright. I know its a different time and place in the market right now, but dealer offers in 22 were $2000 apart on my 2020 FLHX when I sold it two summers ago.
