I have an acquaintance (friend of a friend) who cracked the OEM wheel on his 2021 FLHTK on a pothole.
He is now pretty worked up about "Harley crappy cast wheels" (his words, I've never had a problem) and wants to buy a forged or billet wheel for his bike.
I have never purchased, or used an aftermarket wheel on any of my HD bikes, so I have no idea who makes good wheels and/or who should be avoided...
I would love to hear opinions on best aftermarket wheels and/or aftermarket wheels to avoid so I could pass it on to him for his search...
I’ve always ran Performance Machine wheels , great quality and never an issue. Have several friends who have run WanaRyd wheels and had bearing failure at 20k miles though changing out bearings is no big deal.
Colorado Custom Wheels has some great wheels. I was looking at fat spoke wheels for my King and Sinister Wheels and Ride Right Wheels are good quality if you want...oooppps...he wants that style. I settled on Sinister.
Put a coastal moto on my wife’s sg, really nice wheel. But I will have to say if you hit a pothole hard enough with any wheel there is a chance it will bend or break.
Just placed my order with Metal Artopia this past week. It was a pleasure to do business with him. I was there for around 2 hours going over all my options.

I tried to explain to him it wasn't the crappy wheel, so much as the crappy pothole (or his inability to avoid it).... He couldn't hear me as he was in the middle of a rant about "crappy HD cast wheels" and how "forged are 26% stronger", etc, etc,
How's that old saying go, "Never try to teach a pig to sing, you just waste your time and annoy the pig".... So I just told him I'd ask around for good aftermarket manufacturers...

Maybe he'll sing a different tune when comparing Prices of a NEW aftermarket with a good used duplicate wheel from eBay (or wherever) ... I mean how times has that happened to him (breaking a wheel)
