You must admit this is rare. People are more likely to convert MM to carb. Also early delphi when people though you couldn't use FI for builds people would convert to carb.
I think doing something just to do it is cool. I like delphi. But not to many people are going to convert to FI. if you are honest you know that.
Cool project.
People converted from MM to carb because MM sucked. I don't recall anyone converting from Delphi to carb (but, it's probably been done for what ever reason) and never heard of anyone thinking EFI couldn't be used for builds. Delphi EFI is bullet proof in my opinion and certainly brought out the power that I knew my motor had with a much better tuning process (and I have had carbed bikes since 1975).
Thanks! Luckily I have a tank that can be EFI or Carb otherwise it would’ve been a hell of a lot more expensive. The Brembo upgrade is a must on these old baggers. I haven’t done the rear yet but that’s definitely in the near future. I’m planning on doing the front/rear caliper swap and Brembo RCS19 install as my next write up!
Did you change your front mc to the oem HD mc for the Brembos? I couldn't get the performance I wanted with the 2002 mc that went with the Kelsey Hayes calipers. The 08 up mc made all the difference. I also disassembled, cleaned and use dot 5 in my set up. The rear conversion requires removal of the original mc mount. Easy job with a angle grinder. Then used the 08 up mc for the brembo and the non abs line. So much easier now to remove the rear wheel/tire as I run a 150/80-16.
For reference if you are interested regarding the rear Brembo MC upgrade. See post #34

I did a Brembo RCS19 master, the 13 + bagger brembos, new braided lines, and pads/rotors. I also had to different handlebar controls and throttle housing instead of the factory stuff, but I like the look of it better anyways. Thanks for linking that post and the info about the rear, it'll definitely come in hand when I take on that project!
