Won't be buying this product again for same reasons.
I've had mine for about 5 years and was great. Pretty easy to remove, as I normally take along the OEM dipstick on the long trips or going to the dealer, just in case the bike needs service. I don't want the dealer to mess with something they're not familiar with. I normally do my own oil changes and haven't had any issues. But I guess with any product YMMV.

I haven't used mine in a while as the oil temp readings have been consistent in various riding conditions over the 5 years I've used it.

With the price of $169.95, I am happy with the OEM dipstick.

HD claims “
New and improved “capacitive” level sensing technology provides the highest degree of accuracy and durability.”

I really like the idea of this dipstick and measuring oil level with push of the button but yes old design was big failure seems like.
When the reviews are more than a few years old and they still work, I'll be a believer. You can have my old one, It is still a good dip stick.

Thanks for sharing this. Did you ride your bike in the rain etc? Seems like some folks got lucky and all worked fine I guess

I like the idea of the thing, if it does work, just for those quick checks at the gas station.

I have some gift cards, I might give one a shot!

We had 2, one on my 14 and one on Kim's 15 Ultra Limited's. Never had a problem with them in 8 years besides changing batteries. Mine went with the bike when I sold it.

If I can find it, you can have it. It is a dip stick and that is all it does. All electronic functions are inoperable.
