Not exactly true. ABS needs to be cycled every two years. Like what cause it to fail in the first place.

I agree the ABS bypass looks legit.

You may want to do some research on the ABS recall and decide if you feel you really need or want the ABS.
These modules are prone to failure if not properly maintained. Maintenace is flush every two years, but to properly do the flush and remove all the old fluid from the ABS module you need to bring it to the dealership or buy a tool to activate the module. The scan tool can range from $200 up to around $600. Some people will flush, ride and manually activate the ABS then flush again. It is debatable and a bit of a hot button issue on whether this method is acceptable.

I have a 2009 SG with ABS and do my own maintenance, but if my module goes bad, I will likely delete it, similar to how yours is done. To my knowledge the replacement module new or used is going to be the same design with the same issues.

I like Legend Revo A rear shocks, but as stated most anything will be an upgrade to the stock air shocks.

Nice bike, enjoy the ride whatever you decide to do.

I have an 08.

The AbS thing.. that light will come on if you get air in the ABS module. Requires their tech gadgets to clear. At that age it needs the fluid flushed and replaced anyway. Have that done and while they're at it they'll diagnose the light. Safety isn't a guessing game.

The shocks I don't know what to tell you because I am still rocking the stockers. But if you are bottoming out you need to check if they're adjustable.

The stock 96 with the 6 speed felt a little pooch. Mine is upgraded to 103 but in the stock setup changing exhaust and air cleaner you will need a tuner to get it right.

I bought probably my last new bike in Sept.2019 (age 67 and kept my last new EG 20 years) an Electra Std. and got one of the last to not have ABS as it was still optional.
The 2020s were in the showroom all with ABS which I didn't want or need so I bought the '19 and also got a great deal since the 20s were in..

yes I have been told that if I decide to just leave it be, it’s fine just no ABS, but still have brakes which as of now work fine. I definitely want to since making this post do the 103 upgrade. I feel it’s little slow myself to what I am use to , I did actually buy from one of the members on here a set of stock air shocks with only 13k miles on them and the pump , so gonna add them and I am pretty sure going with the Cobra 4in NH as that fits budget right now, and hold off on upgrading air cleaner due to needing the tune done.

yea I am pretty sure just gonna do a fresh flush with new brake fluid and just ride. The previous owner was upfront and told me about it and the light. He was also in his 60’s and said that bike might have 30k on it but it’s not been ridden hard at all. It sat for almost a year other then just starting and riding around town he told me, and the local HD mechanic who is highly recommended , told me he took great care of all his bikes.
