Less than 2mm of tread left in center of rear 200/50/18 @ 6200 miles was my last rear tire and my new record and NEVER done a burnout on any of my "Harleys".

Factory Dunlop went about 3k but traction was dogpoo as she spun all the time when in the power.

So better traction = better braking.

So keep running them harder high mileage tires and pray that a bit more braking isn't all you needed to avoid your final outcome in a pinch. ☝️🙏

G-force is my weakness, not speed as in 0 to 70ish and then set cruise and chill.

agree. Here in Phoenix Arizona the sun is "tire killers" for bikes and cars.
Both my Harleys are in the garage. I do ride a lot. At around 17k miles I replace the back tire. Haven't checked the tread depth, but traction and braking play a BIG role in how I ride.
Most of the other guys I ride with also get around 17K miles. Some use Dunlop, others use Michellen.
AND.... I change my oil OOO&^&%#%#$@#@%#^%(**&%$$!@$@%$#$&%^&(^%&#@!@@#%$^ %&^)*&)**)(*$@!!@@#%$%^(&

i disagree. i would think that any savings that you get from running a tire this long would be well eaten up by the cost of the tow. not to mention, time wasted.

Do you replace your tires at around 5 years, even if they look fine? I have Michelin Commander 2's, they have been on 5 yrs and only have 10,000 mi on them. They look great, and hate to change them but in the sake of safety will gladly do so. Thoughts?
I would run those until they're worn out or start cracking, but I advise you and anyone else to replace them.

Yeah…but were they mounted on a rim, and exposed to sun & ozone for that period? I’ll bet not. Over time, exposure to the elements causes the rubber to deteriorate and to harden. Hell, it even happens to a pencil eraser. Ever notice what happens to an eraser over time? Maybe someone should develop a tool that measures playability of tires.

But, I’ve never had that issue on any vehicle, as they wear out before they “age out”.
