Hey guys, I used the flowable silicon, and have rode the bike a few 100 miles and so far its dry as a bone! So its gonna hold for awhile it seems, maybe a long time!!!! I was worried it wouldnt stop it and side of the motor have to come apart but I think its good for now! Thanks for the suggestion on the flowable silicon!!!

yeah...it'll hold up. i had a leak at the base of my front cylinder and it held over 3 years until i did a rebuild.
"How involved is it to change the grommet?" Since it is NOT available to purchase, that's problematic. I ended up removing the stator, pulling the grommet and wires loose from the bore. Cleaned the hole with a wire brush and brake cleaner spray. RTV on the grommet to the depth of the ridges in the grommet. Pushed back into the bore, and the sealant filled the hole quite nicely. Hasn't leaked a drop for thousands of miles, and NO RTV sealant to be seen on the outside of the case. Labor intensive, but looks as good as new, nothing mickey mouse about it.

yea I got my repair looking good too, wont be noticed unless somebody is down there close to it looking. I hate oil leaks, I was worried it was a gasket between the case but luckily it was only at the grommet! Hopefully it will be leak free for thousands of miles too!!!
clean the area real good and use some permatex flowable silicone.
Yep, spray electrical contact cleaner (that will not dissolve the paint), thin small screwdriver so you push the grommet in on the sides all the way around to get the outside of it and front inside of case channel clean for about 1/4" deep, then Black silicone RTV that you want to do the same screw driver trick to get the RTV down inside between the ID of grommet. OD of case channel all the way around, then wipe off excess RTV.

thanks dano..I have that in my arsenal of sealants along with the flow able sealant and I prefer it in this instance as it worked for me. also worked for a base leak i had on front cylinder. and it dries clear.
