Engine Light, Security Light & Check Engine Light
I have a 2005 Electra Glide Classic.
While riding home yesterday, the check engine light came on, then battery, then security key. They seemed to rotate which was on, and off. None remained on constantly. And, I should add, there were periods of 5-10 minutes when no warning lights were on. Bike was running fine, but every now and then, the speedo would drop to 0. I assume this is from a now power issue.
I have checked battery connection, and fuses, and all seem as they should.
Any one have a suggestion as to where I could look for the culprit?

After reading several threads/posts on the code, I learned it could be caused by several issues. Rather than posting all the responses, I’ll give you this link and you can read for yourself. Copy and paste into Google.

Did you check the battery? I would do a load test, to ensure you have a good solid 12V source..
Once your 12v power is verified as good (good battery, good cable connections to include grounds & good fuses), with that code, I would check the VSS (vehicle speed sensor).
Are your turn signals self-cancelling with no problem? That is another sign of a bad VSS.
When checking the VSS, if you find it with a lot of metal shavings on it, first clean it off and try running it again. That may fix the problem. If the code returns, then test the VSS, and/or on a 19 yr old bike, just replace it..
Keep us posted on your progress....
