I'm going to install a factory alarm system on my 07 RG. I would like to hear from any of you who have done this job yourself. I will be installing the factory system with pager. Was it a "plug and play" install or are there issues I should know about. If you had the dealer do it, how long did it take and how much did they charge. Thanks for the help everyone.
Steve
Unless you already have the alarm system in your hands, I'd pass on the HD system and buy one that has more features, a lower cost, and easy serviceability: SCORPIO alarm from Aritronix.
My dealer actually recommended the scorpio alarm instead of the HD. I was very surprised but I am also very happy with the scorpio.
I found their site. I can get their top of the line pager type system with all the bells and whistles for around $450. I will do some more research before I buy. Something about the HD automatic proximity system appeals to me and I know I can get that system installed for less than $450.
Thanks for the post.
EDIT - Found the same system on Ebay for $350 shipped.
2nd EDIT - found some reviews. Nothing but good things to say. This sounds like the system for me. We recently stayed at a motel on the coast and had to park the bike around the corner from the room. Needless to say, I didn't sleep real sound. I know . . . get good insurance and forget about it. Now I wishI would have sprung for the alarm when I bought the bike.
