Default Floorboards/Spring loaded?

Riding offroad/MX since I was a kid and wondered why the floorboards on HD and not spring loaded to return them to a flat position, after extending my floorboards out I sometimes catch them with my boots and pull them up when coming off a stopped situation. Yea I know, I should be out riding and not asking dumbass questions!

Say springs are $0.30 each by the time you ship, store and install them and you make 150,000 bikes a year. That's 300,000 springs, or $90,000 a year for something that is a minor annoyance to everyone but the shareholders.

Mine don't need springs, gravity handles it for me.

I just snug up the bolts under the foot boards. Only a smidge. They’ll fold up if they need to, but my boots or pants catching on them like the boards were from the factory, doesn’t happen now.

It would take two hands to rotate my foot boards up, tighten the hardware and go for a ride.

My feet seem to return my boards to the down position without any need for a spring.

But, I bet you could mention it to Harley and for $100, they'd make an optional add-on spring. 😆 Chrome or black.
