I did have a problem with 4 ohm speakers. I have an 07 Ultra and bought 2 sets of Polk Audio speakers, 4ohm. The HK head unit couldn't push the speakers. Once you hit a certain level (not loud enough to hear at highway speeds) the speakers just destort. Not enough power in the head unit to push them. I have 4 speakers and no amp. I went back to 2 ohm and things are better but I'm still looking for a great 2 ohm speaker or a reasonably pricedamp that will fit behind the fairing.
I have the hawg wired component speakers with the amp, awesome sound, they also make direct replacement speakers, thier stuff is expensive but it is top of the line.

Ditto that! Ya get what ya pay for.... How many failed experiments does it take to cover the cost of a Hawg-Wired system? I got the 2channel amp and a set of their speaker for well under $1k and that was before I met Bart. He can hook ya up with this kinda stuff too!
That's my exact quest: a great 2 ohm speaker. Guess the quest continues. Not many 2 ohm speakers out there so I am trying to find the best of those choices. Infinity has a few 2 ohm speakers and I have heard nothing but good about them. Apparently jeep must use a 2 ohm speaker because thatis where all the feedback has come from about the Infinitys. Anyone use them on their bike? The one set of Kappas I saw had a shallow mount so I wouldn't think there would be an issue with the rear pods.
go to you local car audio shop before getting anything --- you will be surprised what they have and can install on a bike

I hear ya, I think i paid 800 for the component speakers and the amp, its plug and play, the stock head unit does not have enought power, even if youcan find descent 2 ohm speakers, why on earth they did not go with the standard almost world wide of 4 ohm is beyond me. My bud just installed the same set up on his road glide, and it to sounds awesome even at 90 with V&H ovals.

I was looking at the j&m myself. The main reason is they are 2 ohm speakers. The wife wanted the intercome working so I got her a set and hooked everythig up. Don't need a speaker replacement now. The sound is great. You will not need all the volume this way. I do not use 3/4 or full helments only 1/2 helments dot. It was easy to do and works great. Now if I can only get the wife to be quiet so i can hear the tunes.
Thanks man, all over that. I added an amp, Hog Tunes, and the H/T speaker c/n handle the power. And this is, what I consider a low output amp. I agree, Pez's customer service is second to none. I am not expecting a miracle here, but there has got to be a better set-up that is more cost effective than Hawg Wired. Thanks again on the MB's. Read several thumbs up for these but I d/n know what models people were using.
the MB Quart can handle the power I believe they are rated tohandle 100 watts continuous and unlimted peak (like the old Bose 901's) I don't know what I did with the box they came in
