none actually played a little louder certainly clearer--- I have since added a 300 watt MTX amp it's in the saddlebag --- everyone in my club has some type of customsound system even the guys on RKs with hard bags

lkr, you haven't noticed any loss in volume with the 4 ohm speakers?

I just picked up and installed a set of Infinity Kappa 52.7i speakers this week end. This is just an opinion based on my ears, tucked nicely away in a Shoei full face helmet.
The Infinities have an inline cross over that needs to be installed with the speakers. I didn't realize this when I first got 'em but it's no problem to hook up. Just had to go to Radio Shack to pick up some compatible leads so you don't have to do any splicing. Then I zip tied the crossover unit (complete with the wires) to the mounting bracket. Everything goes in cleanly.
The sound is quite a bit clearer as there seems to be better a better range between the lows and highs. However, when you are going down the road at 65+ mph, they don't seem quite as loud as the Harley stock speakers. In other words, the sound quality is better but they aren't quite as loud. The volume difference is marginal soI'm hoping that by adding an amp I'll get more volume WITH the improved sound quality.
Have you looked at the HD amp? sells for about $350. I don't have it but am considering it to enhance the sound. There was also an earlier thread talking about the JBL 527 speakers. Guys that had them were happy...
The Kappas lasted one week in my bike. Too bright for my liking and I felt they distorted way too early. I have since added the MB Quarts and love them. They really sound nice and no problem hearing them at 65-70 mph. They could use a bit more juice so now I am looking into amps. These speakers should really shine with some more power. Selling some brand new Kappas if anyones interested. LOL
